BlueGoblin Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I was trying to add an additional 8gb ram to my machine. When launching the system its not showing up for a total of 12gb ram. I am only getting 4gb ram. I am using Windows 7 64bit. The max ram i can use is 16gb. Here is a pic for you to see. The top of the image is the working 4gb ram. The bottom is the non functioning 8gb ram. I purchased this ram as new and was told this was the correct memory to get. Any suggestions? Thanks, Drew
rfancella Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Drew, Have you tried to boot the machine with just the 8gb stick? Thanks, Ron Code Monkey and all around Command Line geek!If you like what someone has said or done for you, be sure and 'Thank' them. And if they changed your life, send them a Beer!
BlueGoblin Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 Hi ron.. i just put in the 8gb ram in by itself. I only get a black screen. either its defective or its no the correct ram
dark13 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 It can be simply incompatible with the motherboard. This kind of things just happen. Anyway return it and take another model. Usually motherboards does have a QVL for supported ram sticks but usually it's very short AND sometimes producer does change ram chips without changing the code (so actually even QVL'ed sticks MAY be not compatible ) Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin
BlueGoblin Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 I just came back from purchasing the ram at another store. The new ram I just bought works fine. I will be returning the other.
