Nocturnaloner Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I made a theme with a video overlay, then decided to not use the overlay. When I save the theme and re-open it, the video is never present. I have to re-add it every time I want to make a change to it. When I run the theme in Hyperspin, the video overlay which I supposedly deleted, is there. Any suggestions? The Hypertheme exe is from 8/4/2010.
Nocturnaloner Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 No one has any ideas on this? Is it a matter of always using the default filenames that HT creates when it saves a theme?
zomboided Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Delete video.png from the theme zip. I don't know what state your XML will be in though. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I'm thinking that Hypertheme can't remember resource file names that aren't the defaults, even though it can re-save them to the default names when it makes a zip file. But if you then go back in and re-open your project, it won't be able to reference your original non-standard names. Not a huge deal, just a pain, especially when you are making many revisions to resource files.

I suspect there's a problem here with the video file handling and the XML not being updated properly. Should be easy enough to check by looking at the xml in the theme and seeing if there's still a reference to video (compare it to a theme which doesn't use an image as a video border) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
THK Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I always import .psd, just name the layer correctly and when importing the placeholder video, always set aspect ratio to both unless using a HT generated video border. But yeah, you'll have to re-import a video every time in HT, just the way it is. ..........................back with a vengeance........................
Nocturnaloner Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 But yeah, you'll have to re-import a video every time in HT, just the way it is. Ok, thanks, that's what I thought. I haven't done a full layout in .psd prior to starting a Hypertheme project yet. So far, I build my Artwork graphics one at a time in Photoshop, export as pngs, then either import the pngs directly into Hypertheme, or Flash for further animation and swf export.
THK Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 I always import the psd into HT, just remember to -Name the artwork layers correctly: correctly Artwork4 Artwork3 Artwork2 Video Artwork1 Background -Make sure the background is exactly 1024x768 -1024x768, 8bit, RGB -I always use a copy of the original psd to import into HT, and clean out all the backup layers -The video border should be in the correct location when importing, just like the rest of the artwork layers, but the video still needs to be resized resized. I always set the video force aspect ratio to both in HT. ..........................back with a vengeance........................
