admiralriker Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Hello everyone! Recently bought/built a new Xtension Arcade Cab. Threw a superpowered laptop in, strapped on the control panel, and away I went! I already had a MAME set up on my other computer, so I ported it over. Here's my dilemma: I have all of the art and videos for a LOT of these games, but I'm missing ROMS. I don't care about them, I just care that I have a couple thousand extra pieces of art being displayed. I would LOVE to cut my XML down, but I cannot for the life of me figure it out. If I use Don's tools to generate an XML, I loose all of the good info and descriptions that Hyperspin displays at the bottom. Same goes for my other systems I have on Hyperspin. How can I make this amazing program only display the games I actually have on the wheel?
Avar Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 Turn on "Roms Only" for the wheel in HyperHQ, just be sure to set your rom path and extensions for that system in HyperHQ as well.
admiralriker Posted July 29, 2017 Author Posted July 29, 2017 Is there anyway to stop HyperspinHQ from crashing when attempting to select the folder for roms? I can get the little dialog to show up, but then the Windows 10 "loading" mouse icon appears and HQ has to force close.

32assassin Posted July 29, 2017 Posted July 29, 2017 when I built my retropie set up, I trimmed the official XMLs to only include the roms I had for most of the systems I added. (I later used the trimmed XMLs to generate a Attract Mode list but that's another story) you can do this and still keep all the info an description found on the official Hyperspin XMLs only problem is that you will have to use multiple programs and use multiple steps. here is what I did . 1. Use Dons tools XML generator to generate an XML with the roms you have. it does not matter that all the info and data is missing, we only need a full list of the games you have (want) 2. in the same Don's tools folder you will find Filter Hyperlist.exe Select a system you would like to do --> pick a source --> official Hyerspin XM for that system. Under the list "Hyperpsin Exclude List" --> point to the location of your custom XML. the XML that contains all the games you have(want) You can ignore the MAMElist.XML, this XML lists the game specific of each game, how many buttons, vertical, horizontal how many players ect. Click Scan You will get an error message because you are missing the MAMElist.XML, but ignore it, click on "Don't Generate list" once your system scans the XMLs it will give you this window the good news is that all the games found in your exclude list will be highlighted in yellow you can either right click over the "Don't Add" section and manually add ALL the game to your "Out Put list" then generate a new XML by pressing "Export Output list" or You can skip the tedious step of adding all the games to your output list and simply click on "Export Exclude List" --> this will generate a new XML from your exclude list THAT INCLUDES all the info found on the Official Hyperspin XMLs.

admiralriker Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 I was still unable to get HyperHQ to work without crashing. Just manually had to enter the rom paths (which kinda stinks since I have multiple systems). I then used Don's filter tool and I was able to create an XML that contained only games that I own. It was fairly straightforward and surprisingly easy. Thank you everyone for their assistance!
