HELP! Games won't launch in Hyperspin: Keep getting the ahk_class error

Hi Guys,

I have Hyperspin running several emulators (I use mainly MAME and Daphne) in a cabinet. I haven't made any changes at all, but now it won't launch any games in any of the emulators. It always says the error about "There was error waiting for the window "ahk_class MAME" to become active."

Going into rocket launcher, it said the Extract path didn't exist: It was pointing to a folder that didn't exist. I've addressed that, I think, by creating a folder it can extract to, but still no joy getting any of the games to launch, so I think maybe the  Extract path thing is a red herring to the problem.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks in advance.Launch_Error_Mame.JPG.e861dd7024c1abb0e06a24fce8d7ab52.JPGLaunch_Error_Daphne.JPG.39ae5f4e57a26c888f9100aeb35d12c8.JPGOriginal_extact_path_it_said_doesn't_exist.JPG.d49897d65e8110b5d02cb3a69c3e4f74.JPG

You should check the emulators are working outside of HS/RL first and then check the paths to the emulators or frame files are correct.

BTW, I deleted your other thread which is exactly the same as this one.

MERRRR! So depressed! Don't know what I'm doing! I'm not a computer expert, I can just find my way around windows.

Grateful thanks to gigapig for the response above.

I understand in these situations, the first thing to do is to try and run the emulator outside of Hyperspin. Going into the MAME folder in windows, there were several MAME.exe files. I don't know which one Hyperspin is running, so I tried all of them. They all came up with the same error: "Video mode not supported" and "Unable to initialize direct3D" (see pictures)

For example, Sega M2 is usually pretty reliable. The emulator would open, but then it wouldn't run any games, instead giving the error below.

As for gigapig's comment: "then check the paths to the emulators or frame files are correct." - I don't even know what that means!

I'm absolutely stumped. Can anyone help?

agent47, very nice of you to reply, thank you!

It was the latter: A cab with a PC inside pre-loaded with HS. It certainly wasn't a "shitty" set-up though, the guy who did it was an absolutely top bloke and it was a top quality product. As for contacting them, he closed the business and went back into employment. I am in touch with him and he's offering to come and sort it, but I'm trying to avoid taking him up on that because he'd be coming a long way. He's SUCH a top bloke!

I hadn't made any changes before it started playing up. I'll try installing directx9.

Thanks again for responding.

SOLVED it: It turned out to be a blown graphics card. I had plugged the monitor back into the normal monitor output instead of the output on the graphics card, by mistake. The .ahk error was from trying to run the games not through the graphics card. As soon as we plugged the monitor into the output on the graphics card, the monitor was black. We took the graphics card out and found a blown capacitor. Ordered another one, installed it, connected the monitor to the CORRECT output this time! (the one on the graphics card!) and everything was fine!
