RocketLauncher for setting mame video mode

Hello,
i'd like to know if is it possible to preset on the rocket launcher UI mame settings,

the default video aspect of the games?

I mean they're all displayed by default as 4:3, is there a way to change the mode in rocketlauncher?
Or at least to save the new mode?
Because even if I set a game in a new display mode in the mame UI settings, when I exit the game and relaunch it, it starts again in 4:3 mode.

I've mentioned this before in another thead. But RL does not read any ini or cfg files from any emulators so you need to tell RL everything you want it to do despite what you have set in the emu themselves. Resolutions can be set on a per game basis inside RLUI.

Better yet... download some bezels and the game will automatically be displayed inside the frame.

Thanks for your reply,

Are you sure that RL does not read any ini or cfg files ?

Because in the global setting of the mame.ahk you can choose in the RLUI to set the setup to "ini" , leaving mame ini file setting for video modes and so..
Or did i misunderstood?

Anyway i'm not very fond of bezels for arcade games, that's why i'm trying to set mame in "Pixel aspect" (usually wide format) rather than "Standart"

Right... i guess mame is the one exception. Are you saying it wont work? Try editing the vertical and horizontal ini. I think they take precedent over other inis if they exist.

well, no it works,

But I'm asking if anyone know which command line to use to get the "Pixel Aspect" video setting for every game in mame.
When you start a game in mamae its video setting is set on "Standard", and in game menu you can switch to "Cocktail" or "Pixel ASpect" which set the game resolution to fit your screen (keeping a ratio according to the original game resolution).

I think in RL you cannot set this option (you can only choose to rotate), so I'm trying on mame ini config, but I cannot find this command line..

Ah I see. Pixel Aspect is actually the games natural resolution so I guess you are using a crt monitor??? If not, I probably wouldn't use that for all Mame games.  It will scale a 4:3 aspect to say 20:15 on larger res monitors but there is probably a better way to do this. In any event this may help:

For all games try this in the mame.ini

#
# OSD PER-WINDOW VIDEO OPTIONS
#
screen auto
aspect auto
resolution auto
view Pixel Aspect (
screen0 auto
aspect0 auto
resolution0 auto
view0 auto
screen1 auto
aspect1 auto
resolution1 auto
view1 auto
screen2 auto
aspect2 auto
resolution2 auto
view2 auto
screen3 auto
aspect3 auto
resolution3 auto
view3 auto

Alternatively, you can copy the mame.ini into the ini folder and rename it to a "game name" and make this change on a per game basis.

Sorry, I was Away for quite some time :(

So I've tried these options in my mame.ini
my view was set in auto, so I've changed it Pixel Aspect (    but it didn't do a thing. I'm still starting in 4:3

But I suppose that the (   is to be filled with desired aspect ratio, right?  In that case I don't know which aspect to choose as every game got different ratios in the video menu (sometimes it's Pixel Aspect(6:4), other times it Pixel Aspect (12:9)..

Yeah if you are setting on per game basis then you would put a specific aspect in the brackets. But in the mame ini like you said every game is different so leave an open bracket on the end and it should pick one automatically.

I did not test this btw, I just read about it in a google search. Wish i could help more.
