Rebuilding Hyperspin ROM Sets using XML's - CRC32 Values Wrong?

Hi,

I've been away from Hyperspin for a while but slowly getting back into building a new setup with complete ROM sets. I'm using the Hyperlist XML's with ClrMAMEPro to rebuild my cartridge based systems but I'm struggling to verify some of the ROMs. Can I just confirm that the included CRC32 values are incorrect for some of the XML's or am I just not looking for the ROMs hard enough? The XML's I'm having issues with are Genesis, SMS, GameBoy, NES, Famicom, Famicom Disk System, SNES and Super Famicom.. each set has several missing ROMs that have CRC32 values that don't seem to match up to anything found online?

For example - the English Translation ROM for 'Rent A Hero' on the Genesis doesn't match the XML. I have tried several versions and even patched the original Japanese ROM myself and still end up with a CRC32 that's different than the XML?

I believe years ago I just verified the sets with the latest NoIntro dats and renamed each ROM with 'HyperSpin Checker' and that took an age and now we have lots of Unlicensed\Prototypes\Hacks\Translations - what do we verify those ROMs with as they don't exist in NoIntro and the GoodSets haven't been updated for a while (I know it's not important for everyone but I'm aiming for a set that is as officially verified as possible)

I was hoping the XML's would be a quicker way of getting the job done.

The short answer is that CRC values are less important than you might think.  In your answer for instance, you have a working rom for Rent A Hero so it should not matter if it matches.  CRC value check the majority of your rom set, then do them one by one if having a complete set is that important to you.

With the recent take down of rom sites, you may have a very difficult time doing this now.

I know it's not overly important I just like to work from verified sets so I know I have the best of what is available.

I already have all the required ROMs in various forms, I have been collecting for years and have Usenet/RetroRoms/PD access.
