ceason87 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Hi guys, I finally got my Commodore Amiga setup working with HyperSpin but am having issues I am using WinUAE 3.0.0 as that's the version the .ahk module in RocketLauncher says it's for and have it all working fine it will load and let me play games through HyperSpin except for the fact it wont save my highscores and more annoyingly if I use the in game save function nothing happens it appears as though it's saved but if you go back to try and load there is nothing there. I've been trying to figure this out for days so if anyone can shed some light on why I cant save it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Chris
ceason87 Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 The guys over at English Amiga Board helped me solve this issue so I'm putting the steps below incase anyone else comes up against this issue. 1. Locate your WHDLoad.prefs file in WHD\S directory within your WinUAE folder. 2. Open WHDLoad.prefs with Notepad. 3. Change ;NoWriteCache to NoWriteCache 4. Change ;SavePath=SYS:WHDSaves to SavePath=S:WHDSaves You can substitute S:\WHDSaves for any directory you would rather use 5. Create a folder called WHDSaves in WHD\S directory (same folder that contains WHDLoad.prefs) If you you created a different directory in step 4. the use that directory here instead of the directory I have specified. That's it games now automatically save to this location instead of the game file even when running from .zip files You may experience the screen flickering / freezing for a few seconds when saving / loading games but it's nothing to worry about.
rocktofakie Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 Hi! Do you use pause for saving and do you use the %romname% saves (Global Emulators.ini), or quicksafe "dafault.uss"? If you don´t know what I´m talking about, let me know. Regards Pause_Save_State_Keys={Shift down}{End down}{F5}{Shift up}{End up}%romName%{Enter} Pause_Load_State_Keys={End down}{F5}{End up}%romName%{Enter}
ceason87 Posted November 21, 2019 Author Posted November 21, 2019 The saving I was talking about was for the in game save function not save states. To be honest I have never used save states with WinUAE based on that fact I wouldn't like to guess and give you incorrect information. Try having a look on the English Amiga Board website as they have a section dedicated to WinUAE. I'll have a look today when I get 10mins spare and will post what i can find regarding save states on here for you aswell if you like.
ceason87 Posted November 21, 2019 Author Posted November 21, 2019 what exactly is the issue your having? as i don't really understand what you mean I can try finding out for you via english amiga board or you could even register with them yourself they are a really helpful bunch of people when it comes to anything amiga be it physical or emulated
rocktofakie Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Hi! Yes that’s what I thought, that you don’t have noticed that I posted something here, that’s why I nudged you via PM. Thanks for responding so quick. Since you posted here in the Hyperspin forums I thought maybe you save via the pause menu and save states. For me the quick save buttons work, but it would be perfect if I could enter Pause (Rocket launcher) and could use a bunch of safe and load states. You don’t use the pause menu, do you?Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
ceason87 Posted November 21, 2019 Author Posted November 21, 2019 I don't although it's an emulator i try to play as if i am using real hardware so i only save through the in game save options. I'm not 100% sure but I think if you press F12 while playing a game it still brings the WinUAE configuration options box up which allows you to use save states and load them also.
rocktofakie Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I have to check if my winuae allows me to save by enter the menu. If that works, rocketlauncher should be able to handle this to. As far as I remember that doesn’t work. But I posted my question when I was setting Winuae up and haven’t tried to fix it in the last three weeks. I thank you for your replies. Maybe I write you a message when I give it another try or I follow your advise to ask the eab forum for help. Have a nice evening!Regards!Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
ceason87 Posted November 21, 2019 Author Posted November 21, 2019 No problem. EAB forum is free to register and there are a lot of people on there who know a lot more about the software than i do so they should be able to help

I really appreciate your help!
ceason87 Posted November 22, 2019 Author Posted November 22, 2019 Glad that it helped. The exact same information is on the English Amiga Board forum aswell as I posted it on there aswell as on here
