BlackDragon2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Mame, is a new beast to me, system emulation under my belt. questions: 1. I have updated my mame set from 0.202 to 0.205. I used clrmamepro. I got the mame list from MAME64 0.202. I set options, scaned and fixed all. Then I rebuilt with all my update packs in one go. 0.202 to 0.203, 0.203 to 0.204, 0.204 to 0.205. Is this done right? I also updated mame64 at that point to 0.205. 2. CHD files, The ones I have, based off games that need them, should they been in the rom root folder, each game CHD inside of its own folder labeled for the rom name it belongs to. Example rom folder: file sfiii.zip in root, folder sfiii in root with CDH to sfiii inside. filtering games question: I started with a Phulashof xml. Then used don tools split hyperlist with genre on that xml. Then i deleted genre, tabletop, board games, rhythm xml. Then used merge hyperlists on the remaining xml to recreate mame.xml. Am i doing this right? on the right track? 3. Now I want to filter out games based on keywords from that mame.xml, but not sure how to use the tool or what tool to use. is it Filter Hyperlist? keywords examples: shogi, Shougi, Mahjong, Dominos, Tiles. Thank you so much for taking time to read and or help. If i do this right I will be posting my step by step as well as the final 0.205 xml. I know its a bit old, but I'm learning.
BlackDragon2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 How to use don tools filter list. #3. Make sure you have your mame setup in hyperhq, then you can load mame.xml, create a mamelist.xml. Then click scan. It will then let you search for keywords and make xml list to remove unwanted games. I am down to 7943. i left all puzzle games as there was some in there that look ok. will need to sort them by hand. this is 0.205. people got 7001 with 0.179 not sure if its from new games added or things i missed.
32assassin Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 1. you should find sites that let you download MAME roms via torrents you can point your download to your current MAME rom folder and it will auto update all your roms. using this method will help you avoid the need to manually rebuild your roms. 2. CHDs need to be in the sub folder but the zip file should stay in the root folder. ts good that you know how to filter this monster you might want to see the official MAME XML thread the zip files contain multiple versions of the MAME XML different filters applied https://hyperspin-fe.com/forums/forum/371-arcade/
