Mame, making games viewable in genre only?

So, is there a tag, to disable or hide a game in mame.xml, that way when you pull up the genre the game will still load?

I tried by removing games from the mame.xml, then went to the the genre. The games are viewable, but do not load.

Is there a way to do this or do I have to just make a new wheel?

a MAME XML and a Genre XML are two completely different files

go to yo MAME XML folder  HyperSpin\Databases\MAME

and you will find a MAME.XML  and  a "Genre NAME".XML

if you want a game removed you need to remove the game from both XMLs

OR

Generate new Genre XMLs based on your Filtered MAME.XML

My end goal is to remove things like light gun or rhythm  from the main mame display, but have them viewable only by going in to genre. This way if the controls are hooked up I can go to them, else if not other people will not see them aka the kids.
