ParadiseCS Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Has something changed in either the mamelist.xml or dat files that keeps Dons Tools from working? In the past ( version 212) I was able to create a hyperlist and sort things by genre and other data I've started a new setup using .222 complete rom set as the base. I'm trying to generate my own lists but nothing I import in to Don's filter list has any of the genre, player, or button information. If I try to create a new Hyperlist all I get is a 1k file with the folling info and then it stops. Is there something better to be using now? <menu> <header> <listname>mameinfo222</listname> <listversion>222</listversion> <lastlistupdate>8/6/2020</lastlistupdate> <exporterversion>HyperTools 4.3.26</exporterversion> </header> </menu> If load up my old xmls from 212 all the info is there.
ParadiseCS Posted September 21, 2020 Author Posted September 21, 2020 Thanks. I've tried the Mame XML full lists generator and while that works to it doesn't do what I need. Using Don's Filter tools I can weed through and be picky and choose what I want. I have several builds on Mame .212 where this worked just fine. Now the Filter List crashes or reports errors in the mamelist. I'm wondering now if it's a .net problem with recent windows updates killing program. Has anyone been able to use Don's Filter List on something newer than Mame 212? I can't even get it to generate a new mamelist without crashing "Could no create a MAME list XML file Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown. If I point it to the list generated by Mame then it gives an error referencing errors in the mame xml file itself.
ParadiseCS Posted October 12, 2020 Author Posted October 12, 2020 I wanted to update this for anyone having similar issues. I loaded up a different system with Windows 1909 and Don's tools work just fine. As far as I can tell something in the updates between 1909 and 2004 messed up Don's tools.
