Working Mame games don't work on hyperspin?

Hi I am using Mame through Hyperspin and rocketlauncher. I have multiple games that work fine when I go on mame and run them, but don't load when I try to run them through rocketlauncherUI/Hyperspin. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

A lot more info may help. What version of Mame? The xml's you will find for Mame around here all expect you are running the newest version so it could be as simple as the name of the rom has changed since the set you are using.

Best thing to do when something isn't working quite right is to set the logging to "troubleshooting" in RLUI.

Try to run the problematic game and then look in the log for any "warnings" or "errors".

If you want to share the log here, just upload it to pastebin.com and share the link here (do NOT post the entire log into the thread, it can be quite long to scroll through).

Just remember to turn the logging back after you find the problem as setting to "troubleshooting" does slow down the process.

Im using Mame .202 and the rom shows up green but it just wont open. Where to I turn on troubleshooting in RLUI?

The audit function in RLUI only checks file name. You could literally make a 0kb zip file with the given name and it would show up green. So don’t mistake that green means actually working. Always load the game in mame itself (outside of RL/HS) to make sure it works.

Another thing to be aware of is that if you just set this up, then the database (XML) that you have is probably for the newest version of mame not .202

For some reason beyond my comprehension they don’t keep databases for older versions of mame around here. This just means that some archives (and maybe even file names within the archives) are named differently than your version. A lot of games have likely not had changed names so it will seem like everything is “working”. You may just want to update to the newest version of mame just so you know things will match.

I am away from home atm so I can not screenshot it... but the logging level option is in RLUI just have a look around.

Ok, I will start updating my romset asap, and fyi, I found the troubleshooting option thank you very much for the help. So last question, is it possible to find an older Mame.xml to use for now?
