eezetee Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 I moved houses and my arcade as in pieces. Finally set it back up and it would seem that I missed a lot. Hyperspin wouldn't launch, rocketlauncher had updates, etc.. Nothing works except Hyperspin - I can see my databases and the artwork. Ok Decent. When I tried to set up Rocketlauncher new on the C drive, then move over the databases directory, that seemed to break it. 1) Is there any way to easily port a Rocketlaunch system setup over without breaking thew new version? Just the Global Emulator.ini? 2) When I try to set up a system manually such as Mame, I can launch the emulator but it doesn't find any roms despite me putting the directory in? Try to search for roms, nothing. It feels like i'm starting all over... 3) Is the current best practices to user HyperSpin with Rocketlauncher, not hyperlaunch?
eezetee Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 After toying around to see which directories cause the systems/roms to be found. It looks like there is a file called FrontEnd that does it specifically this part of the file [Hyperspin] Path=..\..\HyperSpin.exe RLUI_Plugin=HyperSpin RL_Plugin=HyperSpin now onto the next error as I can see the roms but when I trie to launch I get a "There was an error waiting for the window "ahk_class MAME"
adamg Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 1. Hard to say. The core of the setup is basically point HyperSpin at rocketlauncher and then setup rocketlauncher to do everything else. I highly recommend setting it up from a fresh install and just copying over all your directories, artwork and roms. that will give you an understanding of how the modern version works and it fixes some stuff that used to be issues. 2. Are you launching MAME externally and running into this problem or are you launching it from rocketlauncher? The path in RL does not have anything to do with the standalone emulator. 3. We do not even acknowledge hyperlaunch anymore

eezetee Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 Thanks Adam 1) Is there a doc for this? I think this is where I fouled up 2) I'm trying to launch MAME from RL, Dealing with an error AHK that I've found others with. 3) Wow. I guess it's been awhile
eezetee Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 Which video? did I miss a link somewhere? Maybe my AV/Malware picked up something and blocked it
adamg Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Nah I made a mistake. It is there now. it is a shameless plug though. I tried to be as straightforward as possible but if you have any questions just ask.
eezetee Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 RetroArch? Now i'm confused... Is this the right video or sohuld I just fast forward somewhere? It seems I can now get my games to launch in RL with "legacy mode" enable but I think it's still best to understand the setup
adamg Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 That's the correct video. I go through the complete install of hyperspin, rocketlauncher, and retroarch. It is a 3 year old video but nothing has changed in setup process other than versions of the different articles of setup. https://youtu.be/b_bkt4D8s4k?t=566 That would be directly to the start of rocketlaunch. I just recommended it because it shows how to setup an emulator (retroarch) from start to finish.
eezetee Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 Ok cool. Got the systems showing now (FrontEnd was the reason) and I can launch them. Now I get to go and figure out if I can easily port my system configs that were set up over to the new. Any hints on that? BTW, great video, easy to follow
adamg Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Without really knowing a when, I would have a really hard time, even if I could remember, pointing you in the right direction. If you had availability to let me watch through discord or remote desktop, I could walk you through it but I do not know how feasible that would be.
eezetee Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 Given that you are in the North Pole, timezone's may be a challenge Let me see how I get on with saving original configs each step. I can launch games and plan a bit with MAME so I'm good for day 1 Thanks AdamG!
adamg Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Haha, well I may be at the North Pole but I identify as a Central Time Zone habitant. Up here you can really just choose since 1 step in any direction puts you in another time zone ;D
