Sega Model 2 with 2 Aimtrak Light Guns?

I tried playing House of the Dead with two light guns, both of them shoot, however player two "steals" ammo from player one. In other words, house of the dead sees two guns, but the controls are set for only one. Player twos ammo is shown on the screen, but never depletes and both guns reload player 1's ammo. I think it is due to them both emulating a mouse click. I have the application by Aimtrak, but I don't see anyway to map the trigger to anything other than a mouse click. I also tried troubleshooter, but that didn't seem to work. It is probably something simple I am overlooking.

Thanks for you replies. :)

I apologize, some what of a newbie here, but could you elaborate dougan78? I have emulator version 1.0, with troubleshooter 2. Usually I can figure these things out, but troubleshooter seems really complex and I don't want to screw up Mame or Nintendo.

No worries. If you have 1 gun working great. That is the easy part. v1 is the correct one of the emulator that works with TS2 so that is good (took me a bit to figure that out). Now.

You need to pick 1 game ( I used HOTD love that game all of them are good for this emu for light gun games anyway) and start messing with which device ID as circled in the pic works. Adjust your button numbers as necessary. So set it . Keep tS2 open. open the emulator, launch game, test both guns. Repeat until you find the right IDs for your guns. It is that easy. Then go though and set each game. Do the pull down on settings 1 for each light gun game, go to settings 2 page set the IDs and bam! works.

If you have a issue where you reboot your computer and the gun ids change good luck that is the bitch of lightguns. The settings are only good for the USB id the are so do not swap usb ports or something it changes what ID it is in the system. I have had this happen and need to reconfigure mame and model 2. Nestopia worked fine. those are the 3 I use with my 2 aimtraks. Good luck need anything else let me know. Cheers!

I am normally really good with figuring this stuff out, but I usually have some sort of a guide. I am thinking that troubleshooter is not having any effect on the Sega M2. I decided to turn off player 2 controls, by unchecking enable player 2 on the 2nd page and then play the game, but it still allows me to play with player two. Also, I noticed if I don't put in a "Coin" for player two, the gun can still be shot and played, however it takes ammo from player one. I am going to guess the reason is due to the trigger and reloads being the same button. When you say adjust your buttons, did you mean the device then scroll through each trigger and reload? For example, Device #1, trigger button 0, reload button 1, then try Device #1, trigger button 1, reload button 2, etc?

This all makes sense if Player 1 is set up right and player two is copying player one's controls, but has its own crosshairs. Meaning that I need to adjust player 2 only? Or possibly just the trigger and reload buttons? Also, are the reload and trigger buttons specific to each category/device. For instance is Device #1 Trigger 1 the same as device #2 trigger 1. Or is trigger 1 and reload 1 the same button?

House of the Dead is my favorite for the Sega Model 2, hands down. haha.

Thanks for your help. :)

Is there a specific way to set up troubleshooter? I unzipped it and dropped it into the same folder as my Sega Model 2 exe, then just ran it. Anything else I was supposed to do? Any extra script to have Hyperspin boot it as well as the emulator? Or does troubleshooter edit the Lua?

I put it in a TS2_1.2 folder in the emulator folder(I assume you can just dump it into the main folder). You run it. Run the setup helper at the bottom (setupp paths etc). Then I set start, exit and coin keys for each game on settings 1. Set my devices IDs for the guns on the settings 2 (mine are 1 and 2) page and used buttons 0 and 1. Saved the settings for each game. I don't think I had much luck with save as default.

My Aimtrak util:

I have mouse left as trigger, and reload as mouse right on both guns. Mouse right is off screen for trigger as well.

Works like a champ. TS2 does some FM (Freaking Magic) and looks for when The Model2 emu is run when a select game is run. You don't need to do anything special with hyperspin.

THANK YOU! I had tried running the set-up, but it kept giving me an error on the verify location. I was copying and pasting the address of the location from the address bar (Windows XP), but it then hit me that windows XP does not add the \ at the end. So I added that, it loaded up. I messed around with a few settings and bam. It was working perfectly. All of this was because of a \ missing. This program is amazing!

Thank You!
