If you got your set from PD and xml from here then the naming will be fine.

If you have warning triangles then its a problem with Hyperlaunch,so you need to post your Hyperlaunch log set to troubleshooting level. If your unsure of any of that, here's a guide.

So I did some troubleshooting as recommended. Here is what I have come up with...

Specifics

Romset: Mame 0.154 from PD (9054 files, 31.4 GB)

XML: Download new today from hyperlist.hypersin-fe.com

Rompath: Verified correct

So after doing an audit, there are several version of the alot of games, I only have certain games. For instance there are 4 versions of Kung-Fu Master, yet I only have 1 version:

In Hyperspin, My wheel has 4 instances of Kung-Fu Master instead of 1... If i choose the instance that pertains to Kung-Fu Master (World) then the game launches and everything works fine. If i choose one of the other versions, i get the rom not found error:

Here is a section of the Hyperlaunch log pertaining to the error

The XML File has all 4 instances of kung-fu master:

	<genre>Beat-'Em-Up</genre>
	<rating>AAMA - Yellow (Animated Violence Mild)</rating>
	<enabled>Yes</enabled>
</game>

So from what I can gander, im either:

a) missing roms/my romset is corrupt

B) My XML needs to be edit to remove all duplicate enteries of games

c) Something went wrong in hypersync, and things are configured wrong

d) I'm a dink and dont even see the problem which is right in from of my face

???

From the file size of 31gb you must have downloaded the "Merged" Mame Romset from PD, that has all the clones merged into the parent Rom, at least I think thats how it works.

The xml is dased on the "Split" Mame Rom Set which has all clones as separate Roms and is a bigger download of around 51gb.

The options you have that I know of are, to get the Split set or in HyperHQ filter your wheel by checking the "Roms Only" box and filling in the Rom path.

I see. If i got the "split" rom set, and used that, would this resolve the issue?

hmm, this seems pretty straight forward and saves me 20GB, which is big since i have just a 240 gb drive in my final build.

thanks, ill try those two and see if it helps!

So i checked off the "roms only" box for MAME in hyperHQ. now when i select mame from the main menu, hyperspin just closes. looking at the log it seems like it can find any roms??

08:18:32 PM | Loading Main Menu.xml
08:18:32 PM | Main Menu.xml successfully loaded
08:18:33 PM | Main Menu wheel loaded successfully
08:18:36 PM | Loading MAME.xml
08:18:36 PM | roms_only is true, checking files
08:18:36 PM | Error: roms_only is true and there are no rom files for MAME
08:18:36 PM | No roms found
08:18:36 PM | Loading Main Menu.xml
08:18:36 PM | Quiting Hyperspin
08:18:36 PM | Bye!
08:18:36 PM | Main Menu.xml successfully loaded

seems kind of odd, since when i go and uncheck roms only, it does show alot of games and the games i do have work??

EDIT: its workong now... i checked off "parents only? instead of roms only and now it works...

To use the Roms only filter you must fill in the Rom path and extension so Hyperspin knows what to look for and where.

If you plan on using Hypertools it's also a good idea to fill these in.

The other way to remove excess games is remove cull the xml, which can be done with Dons Hypertools. There is an xml which has Mahjong and casino games removed which you can find in Brolly's ftp folder.
