silly question but couldnt you just edit the PC Games module game path

[street Fighter IV]

; gamePath = C:\Program Files (x86)\CAPCOM\STREETFIGHTERIV\sfiv.exe

; params =

and just point to C:\windows\explorer.exe to get HS to launch explorer

That would be a great idea if it actually worked. Could you also create a wheel that launches Windows within Hyperspin? Of course if you did this though, you wouldn't be able to hit 'Escape' while in Windows right?

Changed the Welcome Screen today. I did notice however that the Welcome screen is the same as the shutdown screen. Anyway to make the shut down screen different or eliminate it altogether?

To the left of the local computer "explorer.exe" Shell value, I can still pull up into the start Hyperspin start explorer.exe in Task Manager, and get the desktop.

Are you wanting completely different art, or just a different message with the same background?

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

The only thing I can think of is to do something that is outlined in this tutorial:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31916-log-screen-change-remove-text-branding.html

If you choose to use this, I highly recommend making a system restore point before any changes, and make up back ups of any files you change.

This tutorial doesn't show how to specifically change the shutdown screen, but you will get an idea of how to do it. The tutorial above is to change any of the default windows graphics.

This changes windows .dll files.

If anyone else knows a better, easier safer way please post.

No worries... I'm not going to mess with this.

How would I do the different messaging option?

The different message also uses the method above :( sorry.

I dont know much about any of this stuff...this is just what I've found that works for me.

I'm sure there are better ways to go about these things.

Hi,

I tried this and it's not working for some reason. I've followed all the steps.

At the end of it all though, I get a pop up screen that asks me if I want to save console changes. I've clicked yes.

It just reboots in windows.

Maybe I have the wrong path? I tired the following different options:

hyperspin

hyperspin.exe

c:hyperspin

c:\hyperspin

What should I be doing here?

Awesome guide dude! I got everything running finally on my cab including hiding the branding,welcome,shutting down etc... I'm using an old 20" CRT TV via S-video. The problem is I can't seem to get the new bootscreen working via Windows 7 boot updater. Though upon doing it the first time everything worked until I started getting rid of the branding text etc.. now it just shows a black screen until Windows (Hyperspin) boots. I did read somewhere around here that putting the Windows resolution at 1024x768 would work but it didn't :(

OS is Windows 7 Ultimate X64 no sp1 or updates (didn't bother with these as I couldn't get the branding stuff to disappear with SP1)

Anyone else have this problem? Here is my bootscreen. I took the Metal Slug one (I'd give credit to the original author if I could remember lol) and added some text to it.

have you tried restoring the default boot screen, then re-select the custom boot screen using the Windows 7 Boot Updater?

Yeah, just tried restoring the original boot screen via Windows 7 boot updater but I still get a black screen :( Any other ideas? I'll keep messing with it of course.

I think that may be your issue.

Instant Sheller works weird on windows 7 64 bit.

Restore the Instant Sheller options to default and see if that fixes it.

may need to search your Instant Sheller error on Google, or search some forums on how to restore the defaults.

if I find anything, I'll post it.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I'm guessing boot.ini was an XP thing? I found a copy of it on the same HDD since I ran Xp before on the same system and it said registry back to normal so I'm gonna try. I'll post my results :)

Hi whiLd,

Thanks for sharing all this info. I followed your links, tips and tricks and have almost gotten rid of any Windows 7 stuff on my cabinet. Unfortunately I am running Home Premium so I have not been able to really shell Hyperspin. That also leaves on startup and shutdown the "progress" indicator (that turning ring thingy) on the screen, even though I was able to remove all text (like shutting down, etc). If anybody knows how to get those last ring things to Mordor, please share.

Otherwise I just came here to thank you guys for all this info!
