wow thanks whiLd! That solved it for the most part. For others wanting to do the same:

- Use resource hacker to open up /windows/system32/imageres.dll

- remove the animated images in the PNG and Bitmap folders inside that file

- safe as a new file somewhere you can remember

- reboot into windows safe mode with command prompt

- remove the original imageres.dll (keeping a backup somewhere safe of course!)

- copy the new imageres.dll to the /windows/system32 folder

- reboot windows and enjoy

I also shared this on the seven forums, since I had asked there too:

Thanks whiLd!

Here it is. I realized that if the "complete background" was going to hide my text... I could just add my own in the bitmap, so that's what I did. The "hyperspin logo" is the animated one that I got from Deviant art.

The screen really needs a Pac-man animation on it... I've got an animated .gif but I can't figure out how to do it with updater.

First off I want to say that THAT is freaking awesome!

Secondly I am not sure if this would help anyone but I could see its implications. [i am not 100% sure how the shelling done in this guide works but this should work. I'll have to do some research to find the name of the .DLL I used too. Windows 7 home by default cannot be RMD'd into but I found that the only difference between windows 7 pro and windows 7 home in this respect is a single DLL file. While digging around more I found a modified DLL which not only allowed me to to RMD but RMD with concurrent sessions and no password needed (so no user lock screen at the local systems bootup.)

In theory if you had Windows 7 Home or Pro Shelled to Hyperspin the local machine would boot up in to the user profile say... "USER01" but rather than showing windows and a desktop it shows Hyperspin. Using RMD to remote in to the HYPERSPIN system (using concurent sessions) basically you get two accounts logged in at once not just USER01 and USER02 but rather USER01 logged in the the host and USER01 via RMD but each login has its own independent desktop. Based on how I know it to work in windows in theory you could have a player playing on Hyperspin machine (which has logged in to the USER01 account when the system was powered up although nothing but Hyperspin is ever seen on the actual machine) and you could RMD in to that machine on the same user profile view the windows desktop and explorer.exe (as if you were on that machine before it got shelled) and modify any files with hyperspin and roms and such via remote.

I know I just made that sound a billion times more complicated. Let me find the modified DLL that allows concurrent sessions in RMD and you can RMD in to your system and play around as the same user to see that each login while using the same user account is completely independent of the other login. (doesn't fight for input control and such).

not sure if this helps any but it could have its perks.

My issue is with Windows 7 Boot Updater. I run it and it says it is applied, but it never works. I always get the regular windows screens when powering on. Any suggestions?

read the entire first post.

it explains that I had issues with that program, so I wrote this tutorial for people that were having the same problems.

all questions should be answered I'm the first post.

my mistake. I thought you were talking about Instant Sheller.

are you running the boot updater on an admin account?

I'm trying to get this gif loaded in the windows 7 boot changer and I've tried just about everything I can think of. I've even converted it to a PNG file. It seems like the windows boot changer only likes bs7 files for animated images.

Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Can't insert a pic or link til 5 posts :P sorry. It's ryu blasting a shoryuken and I think it would be awesome loading up with hyperspin.

*edit: Ahhh I found a simple solution that I may have missed over on the website. Just have to take the gif and load it into Jasc animation shop (free download) and then save frames as, then save as a PNG file and load it that way.*

I figured out something maybe you guys already know but i thought i'd post it just in case you didn't for anyone who wants windows 7 to boot up without having to type in explorer.exe in the taskmanager when you exit hyperspin all you got to do is open up hyper hq go to the startup/exit tab click on the browse folder for exit program then navigate to C:\Windows\explorer.exe click on open close hyper hq now when you restart your computer and exit hyperspin windows 7 will start up.

Quick thought, how about using this:

h t t p : //www.f2ko.de/programs.php?lang=en&pid=b2e

I converted a batch to exe for mine and it all seems to work fine for my needs. My batch contains 5 lines of command running all sorts of things.

how did that work out for you? I'm looking to do the exact same thing. Considering just writing an ahk script that will run what i need.

I actually just used hyperlaunch, I just chose the xpadder.exe as my program.
