albert_c Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Very strange issue. Here are my system specs: Dell Core 2 Duo based Optiplex Hacked ATI card outputting 15khz running Calamity drivers. Windows XP Pro SP3 .NET 3.5 C++ Redistributable 4GB DDR2 I am setting the system up using a standard LCD monitor at a usable resolution (1600x1200). Everything works. I change my resolution to 640x480 to prepare to connect to arcade CRT monitor. I confirm that everything works at that resolution. I reboot one more time, allow the system to come back online and check that HyperSpin works one more time for good measure at 640x480. Then I shut down and connect the system to my arcade CRT monitor, then start the system. After this point, HyperSpin no longer launches. I restore the system to a previous point that I designated, unfortunately that point is at a higher resolution, and of course, the arcade monitor cannot display that resolution. So I boot into low res VGA mode (640x480). HyperSpin works at this point, but it is at 4-bit color depth. Once I switch to 32-bit depth, HyperSpin no longer works, doesn't launch at all. Don't know what gives. I know that there are issues with ArcadeVGA running with hardware acceleration. But everything works fine up until I connect the system to the arcade monitor. Also, yes, I have speakers connected. Anyone experience this before? Also because HyperSpin doesn't launch, I don't think I can capture any logs. Help! When you find great deals on Craigslist for CRT based cabs, exuberance can be a bad thing! Current status of cabs: 0/5 working as desired :wallbash:

RetroNutz Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I feel your pain! Im getting the exact same issue. HS works at 640*480 on an LCD but the moment I switch to 15khz to display on an arcade monitor, HS won't launch. This is on Win7-64bit, Radeon 4650 with Calamity CRT drivers. Surely there must be someone who can point us in the right direction. Albert_C, you posted this issue 7 months ago. Did you ever get a fix?
Turranius Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Do you still have a speakers connected to your computer when you move it over? HS bugs out without any speakers of some sort connected.. Other then that, no idea =( Mame related stuff: FTP: grandis.nu, port 21, user:misc, pass:misc http://grandis.nu/software Tur-Matcher - Match your roms/media/XML files. stillcore Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I had an issue where my arcade monitor wouldn't work with my video cards resolution so i had to force it using Multires http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/multires.shtm Don't know if this will help, but it's worth a shot.
RetroNutz Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Good news! Finally worked out the problem. Despite following the instructions to use "Super Resolutions" for Windows 7, the number of mode lines in the registry was still over a hundred. I double checked all my settings in vmmaker.ini (they were correct) and re-ran VMMaker. Loaded modeline.exe to check again and saw the dozen or so "Super Resolution" modelines. Not sure why VMMaker didn't work first time round. This webpage i found has a good explanation and workarounds for using Hyperspin with CRT drivers: http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=379 Also this page proved useful: https://code.google.com/p/groovyarcade/wiki/Explanations_modelines Any way I seem to have a green screen where the video playback within Hyperspin is concerned. Apparently to fix this issue you have to disable hardware acceleration. Unfortunately the suggested fix in the above link (play a Youtube video through the Firefox browser, right click video, and change settings) does not work, possibly because youtube now use HTML5 as the default player. Thanks to those that replied with ideas.
