a while ago but links are dead,

does anyone have this tool? thanks.

I have it. It's also available on the FTP which is where I got it. I can upload it if you want? Or you can grab it off the FTP it's in upload here/chillinwater's folder :)

whats the effective use of this?

thanks

alex

well gdi's are usually about 1.1gb and converting to chd's makes them alot smaller in size,

this only works for gdi's and will not work if you have cdi's :)

chd's work with demul only (i think), there is a tool to convert gdi back to chd, its on the ftp.

Sorry for bumping an ancient thread, but I'm having an odd with this program: it hangs. I've narrowed this down to my DC gdi's having spaces in the filenames. If I rename "Shenmue II (Disc 3) (Europe)" to s2d3" everything works fine when I run chdman from the cmd prompt. This shouldn't be a problem, should it? I can't imagine having to rename 100's of GDI's twice - once to make it chdman compatible and another to change the name back. If I can figure out why chdman doesn't like spaces in filenames, I can get Kodiak's program working.

Any input from a chdman vet would be appreciated.

Fixed: The error had nothing to do with the filenames, but the space in the directory name which i was giving GDI to CHD to convert from. "D:\Emulators\Hyperspin\Games\Sega Dreamcast" wasn't working through the program, but it DID work when I navigated there through a command prompt and told chdman to convert. By moving the gdi's and GDI to CHD to "D:\Emulators\Hyperspin\Games\", GDI to CHD was able to convert regardless of the name of the GDI.

Long story short, don't use this program if any of the directories the program sits in have spaces.
