Spawk Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Most sets in hyperspin are very clean. 1 of each game, adding a few regional issues so we don't miss anything unique. And the numbers for those systems are pretty good: NES-791, SNES-787, GBA-1129, even PS1 only has 1713. But Mame has a whopping 9069! This creates a very messy wheel with multiple versions of games. How are people handling this? I think the 2 most common options are: 1- delete the theme for unwanted games and tick "show only games with theme" in HQ (I don't like this method... won't hypersync just replace these when syncing?) 2- delete the rom and tick "rom only" in HQ (Better, but still lots of manual work. And ruins any "seed" torrent right from there ideas) Option 2 means going through every item on the wheel. The last full mame set I had was 0.143. At that time (was using MaLa) I went through and pulled about 800 games in an effort to make a gamelist that was a little more manageable. Now, at v0.154 some of those games won't run (I think due to bios' not being stored within rom anymore). I just got my full set updated to 154 and now 155 is out. Not sure how long it will take for hyperlist to have the new xml but I will have to do all this over again. There must be an easier way! Ideally I would like to have a couple of Mame wheels, one just for classics, another for newer games... maybe split by genre?? Main wheels dedicated to fighting/vertical shooters??? So how's yours setup? Give me some ideas.

If you remove artwork and use HyperSync, the art will all come back. For option 2, agreed. It will mess up any torrents and you no longer have the complete set of roms if you delete them. I think your best option is to use a rom filter program to filter out the games you don't want and generate your own xml using HyperTools. If yo create a list of either wanted or not wanted roms, this file can be used to as an include or exclude list to bounce off your full MAME xml. If you go this route and use HyperTools, the extra data in the xml will remain. Thanks, Ron Code Monkey and all around Command Line geek!If you like what someone has said or done for you, be sure and 'Thank' them. And if they changed your life, send them a Beer!
