How can I get rid of my missing roms from my MAME xml?

Please help, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if all the programs I've tried aren't doing what they're supposed to. I've tried a bunch of things to cut my database down from 9000 roms to the 6000 that I've got. I've tried using clrmamepro to make a .dat file then used Dons dat to hyperlist converter only to have the end result as a blank 0kb file. Hyperrom2xml hasn't given me any joy (I've tried both 1.3 and 1.5). All I want to do is get rid of the roms that I don't have, any ideas?

Why not just open HyperHQ and tick the box to Filter by ROMs only

Cheers, Tried that though. When I try open my MAME wheel, it just doesn't load and leaves me at the main menu. All of my other menus load no worries. MAME loads fine when Roms only isn't ticked but then I can see all of the roms that I don't have as well.

Are you using the official XML from HyperList and your ROM files are named correctly (aka haven't been corrupted by clrmamepro or anything nasty)?

Oh and you did put the details for your EXE and ROM path in here cause if you didn't it won't work. In fact you have to do this for ALL of your wheels to make some third party old school stuff work. :)

Just to clarify mine looks like this

No Worries. Just remember that HyperHQ is directly related to HyperSpin as a front end editor for the settings that control HyperSpin. HyperLaunch is the engine that opens your emulators and HyperLaunchHQ is the editor for the settings in that. Two separate entities with two easy to use GUI editors. :) Once you get your head around a few of these it becomes pretty easy. If you have any other questions most of them are answered in the links in my signature.

Have fun with HyperSpin.

hmm i can't get this to work even if i supply the rom path..

i selected parents only now, but what does that one do? it seem to filter out a lot of clones though.. but does it filter out the right ones?

The "Right" one is a good question. The short answer is no. There are games that the parent does not work but there are clones and bootlegs that do work.

You need to supply HyperHQ the path to your Roms as well as your EXE and also put the prefix in there as well. Same as the picture.

im having the same problem as the guy above. I have the rom paths and everything set as you mentioned and showed in your images. im using the 0.155 romset from PD and the XML from here.

same results as the guy above. everything works fine, but if i set it to roms only selecting mame just goes back to the main menu

Make sure your settings are exactly as show in the screenshots here. Especially the file extension, rom path and then select rom only on the wheel tab.

so i triple checked the rom and executable path. they are correct. they also match what is in HLHQ for the global settings for mame and for the rom path under mame there.

when i uncheck 'rom only' in hyperhq the full wheel is back and if i select a game i have the rom for it works fine. not sure what im missing. when i check the log it just says 'no games found'. when i run an audit on mame in hyperHQ it finds tons of games and all the ones i should have.

any other ideas?

Could you post some screen shots of your mame settings in HyperHQ?

You could use don's hyper tools.and click on app called list generator.I will bring the whole list of games you have.then to do it quick hold alt on the keyboard and ho all the way down the screen then press on the last game so it will highlight all of them.then i believe press alt+f to enable all games to the list.now that that is done go through the list and click on dont add.to take it off.after that is done.press on create xml file.backup original in another folder before yiu save the one in its place just if any issues happen.that should fix your issue.
