Best way to map controls in Spectaculator for the ZX Spectrum?

Hello,

I have Spectaculator 8 setup and working in HyperSpin.

Was wondering the best way to setup the controls. Since there are a few options depending on the game(Kempston, Sinclair, keyboard, etc...) Would VJoy be of any use here?

Any settings in Spectaculator that may help?

Thomas

Hi Thomas, I'm trying to get the controls sorted too. I have tried many combos but not really getting anywhere. I'm using a minipac and would love to use my control panel, even though it would be easier using a usb joystick. There must be a way of mapping the keys, i'm a bit confused with all the options available in Spectaculator. I'll keep at it and if i get anywhere i'll post here.

Cheers,

Ross

I like Spectaculator, and it does have a few options inside the emu. But for arcade use I thought ZXSpin was better at different control options if I recall.

I haven't had the chance to mess around with it or try VJoy but may have a go at it in the next few days.

Anybody? Thanks

Better late than never. What a nightmare spectaculator is to setup. This is whats worked for me:

Within spectacular under /tools/options/joystick

- ensure if you are using a gamepad the "emulates" option is "disconnected"

Within spectacular under /tools/options/keyboard

- the "keyboard joystick options" at the very bottom has "kempston joystick".

By using the keyboard keys to emulate the kempston joystick we can now use arrow keys for direction and the tab key for the joysticks fire button.

I ended up then configuring xpadder with my gamepad to use the arrow keys, the tab key, enter, and numbers 0 to 9.

For most games I can now select kempston joystick within a game and use any number keys to initiate most games.

Hope this helps.
