Sea Monkey Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 From what I've read here, there seems to be a general consensus that best practice is to set up your emulator for keyboard controls and then map them in xpadder, so I've been setting up an xpadder profile for each system. Are there any instances where it's preferable to use the emulator to configure controllers instead?
ghutch92 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Depends on what you want to use to control the games. How to Install HyperSpin and more RocketLauncher HyperSpin Startup Script
Sea Monkey Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 Right now I'm just getting a Logitech F310 controller configured for everything. I tried to get a generic USB controller set up for two player and failed miserably.
ghutch92 Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 If you're just using one type of controller for everything than directly mapping to the emulator is the best way to go. If you wish to mix controller types i.e. arcade control panel and a dual stick gamepad than xpadder is the best way to go. How to Install HyperSpin and more RocketLauncher HyperSpin Startup Script
eezetee Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 I think I may have HAD the same issue. One of the issues is that both controllers cannot be differentiated. In my case they both showed up as "RetroLink" and despite naming them in the registry, I still had issues. The only way I got around it was to use RAW mode in MAME and that worked. But I got so pissed off that I just went out and bought 2 XBOX controllers with a wifi adapter. This also solves the mapping problem with changing device ID"s.

I've wasted so much time tinkering with xpadder. I do think I'm going to pick up a couple of xbox 360 controllers and wireless adapters though. Both of my controllers are crappy.
