jphilpot Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 All my 3DO roms are in a .zip format. I've tried mucking around with FreeDo, FourDo, and Phoenix and they all seem to want the .iso format. Is there a Hyperspin compatible 3DO emulator that will run the .zip roms or do I need to look for new roms? If one of those emulators are compatible, instructions on their use would be REALLY appreciated. Thanks for reading![/b]
Bigby Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Why not unzip them ? (or do you want a script to do that within HyperSpin ?)
djvj Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 First, there is no such thing as "hyperspin compatible" because hyperspin will run anything, it's up to you to make sure you wrote or downloaded a script that hyperlaunch is capable of launching your application. Second, Hyperlaunch 2 adds archive support to any emulator, whether is has it built in or not. It's your job to set up your settings and hyperlaunch correctly to take advantage. jphilpot Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 I apologize, I should have been more specific. The problem is definitely not Hyperspin. The problem is I can't get any of the emulators to run my roms outside of Hyperspin so I'm sure it won't work in Hyperspin. All my games are zip files. Inside each zip resides .bin, .bmp, and .cue. None of those emulators mentioned above can see my .zip files to run them. It looks like they want a BIOS Rom File and I have no idea what that is. So I guess a better question is, what is a BIOS Rom file? And why is 3DO the only system that seems to need one?
djvj Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Many systems need a BIOS rom or suggest using a real one vs a free one for compatibility reasons. Also many systems, especially cd-based ones, don't support archived games. Get a couple games working unzipped, then get them working through hyperspin. Finally, enable 7z support with hyperlaunch 2.x and you can play them zipped. jphilpot Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 You're the man!!! Ok, I found the proper BIOS for 3DO and downloaded it. It resides in the same dir as the emu.exe (phoenix). I successfully ran my games through the standalone emulator with no problems. I placed the phoenix.ahk in my modules folder and renamed it appropriately (Panasonic 3DO.ahk). I also renamed fz10_rom.bin to fz10.rom as was specified in the ahk and loaded that as my BIOS in the emu. It looks like the ahk is already setup to use 7z... is that correct? I don't have much experience working with ahk's. When I run HyperLaunch pointing to the .zip rom, the emu starts but will go to the "Insert CD" screen instead of auto loading the selected game. Do you know what I need to do so that when the emu is started, the selected game also auto loads? Thanks again for all your help, I appreciate all the responses you give on this site.
djvj Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 NP, glad I could help. The hyperlaunch 2 thread's first post has a section on howto setup 7z support. It requires adding some ini keys to your Panasonic 3DO.ini and enabling 7z. ninja2bceen Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 So I got 4do to work by using dameon tools, mounted all the isos. Funny thing now is upon loading maybe the 4th game it asks for more ram and goes to storage manger. Is this normal? If I delete a save game it works fine. Not 1 game is 1/3 of total in the memory storage screen that comes up before the game gets to load. Tips? Advance the cause to 100%. http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ Planet Geekdom, Subscribe for Tutorials! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdcby-s2GwriaOHGmVC2vGA?sub_confirmation=1&app=desktop
