kjnicoletti Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Hello all. First post even though I've been around these forums on and off for years First, let me say I'm no artist. And I have very little experience manipulating art on the PC. That never stopped me before... So I installed Paint.Net yesterday and started messing around. I wanted to replace the default main menu Daphne system theme. I don't like my wheels named after emulators, I like to keep it friendly for someone who loves these games but has no idea what MAME or Daphne is. I thought I'd share my creation here and see if anyone had any feedback. Here ya go! http://youtu.be/b86_TCHg7Kk
relic Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 thats preety radical simple but effective 100%
kjnicoletti Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Thanks relic Here's the wheel art: Here's my "neon Daphne" that I derived from a Don Bluth sketch Don's sketch
relic Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 np can you make the light spin around in a circle that would be even more impressive and make my day 100%
kjnicoletti Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Hah, it's funny you ask that. I actually started down the road of making a flash animation. I was going to take a section of this cool laser light show I found on YouTube and have it loop as the background. But I got in over my head pretty quick. It seems the SWF files HyperSpin requires are vector based animations? Not sure... In the end, I got stuck trying to convert the video to SWF. That would be pretty darn cool though. If anyone wants to help with that step.... In a perfect world, I'd like my "neon Daphne" to be better too. She needs to be more... neon. But I'm a noob with free tools.
kjnicoletti Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Oh I never said it couldn't be done, just that my noobness was holding me back. I did manage to figure it out. It gets kind of busy, so I replaced neon Daphne with Dirk from the default version. Just to cover up some of the light show. I'm happy with this, it's probably as good as my current skills will allow. http://youtu.be/b86_TCHg7Kk I uploaded the theme to the ftp under my name, if anyone would like to use it.
