I been playing with hyperspin prior to the 3 release now I even more confused. I have HS running on 2 Pc's and some things are just not quite right,

I have teamviewer for anyone that wants to see what mess I have created and really need to know the basic hardware and software needs for a basic mame setup.

I have mame install disks I purchased but I think they will only be good for the roms, correct me if i'm wrong. there are many builds of the mame software.

The platinum gives you access to the hyperspin ftp and a discount to emumovies ftp so you can use Hypersync. As for requirements to run MAME, even very low powered hardware can run most games. And for the Roms, just make sure the number of your romset e.g. "0.148" matches the emulator version.

a PC for basic mame, if you are mostly interested in the arcade classics up to the late 90s. You can use a 5-10 year old computer for MAME.

You only need late model PC AND a higher end video card for systems that where released after the dreamcast.

your only problem is the Hyperspin PC requirements, get what you can afford, 4 gig ram minimum.

You are correct. their are builds of MAME, each rom set needs to match the build version.

ok so the roms that came with the DVD'S I bought are basically useless.. how do I tell what romset I have? I have one system running pretty well just notice that some of the games run with mame just not in HS..

well they save you downloading them again, the same places you'll find the roms you'll find explanations on how to save as much downloading as possible

so the romset is not the roms themselves but the list of roms?

the romset is the roms but there are different versions of mame thus you may have to update your romset to the latest version

I just purchased platinum but cant get access to ftp and hypersnyc does not see me as platinum! Any help with that would be great
