boomerps2 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I was wondering if there was an option for delaying the emulator from loading giving my bezel more time to open. My emulator (Retroarch) opens off center first waiting for the bezel to load. When the bezel loads, then it centers the screen where it should be. Having the bezel open up first would just look better. Thanks
gigapig Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Are you using fade? That should hide most things, and which system is it?
boomerps2 Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 Are you using fade? That should hide most things, and which system is it? I'm using fade. It is Picco in retroarch. Does it for all sega consoles. I cant use Gens emulator because it opens on top of the bezel. Picco is the only one that works. Anyway to adjust timing? Thanks for the response.
Fromlostdays Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I have the same problem; it's worth noting that I'm using a nightly build, not a stable version. RetroArch opens with a dialogue box to begin with, so I wonder if there is a way to turn that off. Secondly, fullscreen OR windowed yields the same results with the bezels. Fade won't hide it. I was going to tackle this later as I spent a lot of time setting up the configs, but I'll look into it tonight. Walter:beerglass:
baddeolv Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Couldn't you just use the fade in exit delay? Instagram : baddeolv Kik : baddeolv Facebook : Brian Addeo www.facebook.com/thecorepunk
gigapig Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Mine was starting full screen, then then flicking to the bezel, I fixed that In RetroArch. The transition is now fine. So I tried to replicate boomers problem by turning off Hide Console and Hide Emulator, made no difference. I'm assuming Boomers has updated recently? Fade settings.
Fromlostdays Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Couldn't you just use the fade in exit delay? I don't think so. For me at least, the flickering actually starts before the fade even ends, as in it breaks the fade screen, then fade ends, RetroArch appears fullscreen (even in windowed mode) and then the bezel pops up and RetroArch resized. It's weird. But again, I spent most of this weekend focusing on getting cfgs for a million systems, then I spent an entire day trying to get the mess core to work (unsuccessfully) so I was pushing off the details. I haven't really tried messing with resolutions and windowed mode extensively, preferring to spend the time setting controllers for each system, nor checked to see what video settings I could tweak in RetroArch. I always work from bulk to detail (not always the best thing in Hyperspin, haha) Walter:beerglass:

Updated to the new Beta from actually watching your youtube videos. Great videos BTW. One emulator that consistently does it is DeSmume (NDS) in Retroarch. Ive resized the aspect ratio to fit perfectly in the bezel. When I start a game, it opens the emulator first off center, then bezel finally loads and DeSmume centers itself to the bezel. I have other emu's that has the bezel opening first and them the emu comes in right in the center which is what is supposed to happen. If the bezel opens first, then it eliminates the emu from having to resize. Is there anyway to speed the bezel up or slowing down the Fade-in so it gives it time. BTW....your fade setting attachment is not viewable
boomerps2 Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 WOW....much easier to use Retroarches overlay option then messing with bezels in HyperLaunchHQ. Just configured overlays in Retroarch using my bezels from HyperLaunch and problem solved. Retroarch has been a lifesaver. Retroarch has even emulated the stylus from the Nintendo DS using the analog stick on the 360 controller and the right trigger being the actual press on the screen from the stylus for those who dont want to use the mouse and keep it more streamlined. I am completely sold on Retroarch!!!!
Fromlostdays Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I will try the overlay option, but I do think in more stable releases the HL Bezels will get fixed again, because for me it never happen in earlier releases. However, we may have had different problems from the start. When I launch the newer version of RetroArch in windowed, a black box appears giving me a d3d error, and I think this error was what broke the fade screens for me. The error is: ::ctx_init :: Failed to bind API on context driver "d3d". I tried updating graphics card drivers, and direct x, but no joy. I'm not too worried about it as these things tend to fix themselves, but if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it. Walter:beerglass:
boomerps2 Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 Retroarch devs have confirmed that their direct X driver is broken. Open gl is the only one that works. As for retroarch overlays, it seems that all of the emus launch in perfect synchronization with the bezel. There is no need to use HyperLaunch's bezels when they are built into retroarch for a much smoother transition and its just going to get better with the update release of ver 1.1

I'm not having a transition issue, but should this be reported at HyperLaunch.net?
Fromlostdays Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 should this be reported at HyperLaunch.net? I'm far from an expert but I don't think this is a hyperlaunch issue. It's all RetroArch. If when version 1.1 drops and they fix d3d people are still having problems with the bezels, then report. Until then I'm sure Hyperlaunch Squad has enough to do with working out more immediate (and obviously internal) bugs in the beta. Last night I resolved to fix this very issue, and I found that I was accidentally launching fullscreen the entire time. I had to change the setting in three different places, (system/libretro.cfg, retroarch.cfg, and in Hyperlaunch module settings) before it would launch windowed. When I did that, it didn't clear up the flickering, but it did seem to smooth out the bezel draw. But as I was testing, RetroArch itself broke for no apparent reason, and started running extremely slowly, so I know they have some stuff to work out before they release a new stable version. (This slow down comes with no error - I was already getting the d3d one- no change in anything but window size, changing that back did not fix it, updating everything on my computer side did not fix it, and updating the exe to the newest nightly did not fix it -I think its just some kind of bug in the code) One last thought before anyone jumps to a conclusion, I have RetroArch set to use GL, not d3d, but the error causes a window to pop up and that window is what breaks though Hyperlaunch Fade Screens, at least for me.
