Fromlostdays Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Disregard: I found good info here http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?11256-Help-with-cutting-out-images So the story is I'm attempting to make a wheel for the first time. I'm a complete noob, but I've been watching tutorials for about a week now and I'm getting more familiar with gimp. I run into a problem when cutting out a logo. There's a good picture of the Neo Geo logo with the background being red. I want to cut just the logo out and paste it over another image in Gimp. My problem is the color gradient (see below). I have no idea how to get rid of the redish pixels around the logo to blend it with the black. This is the result of using fuzzy select to paint in the black background I want around the image. Thanks for any info, Walter Walter:beerglass:
THK Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 I used Gimp a couple of times at the volunteer work I do, though I'm getting a bit of the hang of it, as a PS user it makes me ..........................back with a vengeance........................

Thanks for any info, Walter i'll go for this : 1 : Use "selection by color tool" to select the red logo, you'll only need to cut & paste after that. 2 : On the layer created click the anchor, then choose "alpha to selection", it will select ( i hope ) the logo borders only 3 : then re apply any color you need 4 : if needed , go to filters and look for the gaussian blur, apply 1 or 2 pixels wide to remove the sharpened effect. I'm sure you managed to find your solution but maybe it'll help others.
