Roadrunner
Update: Fixed the MAME/Mess problem. I changed the display from 150% to 100%. My icons are stupid small but it works now at least. Unfortunately now Stella doesn't work... whoo boy.
gigapig
See post logs if things work outside of HS or HL but not when run through those. Maybe removing the ini files or cfg file from the none working emulator may fix things, but back up first. Or even installing it again, as there may be some issue the emu has with the new GPU. Roadrunner
Okay, I reinstalled a new version of Stella to my desktop. Worked fine and as soon as it was installed, the old version worked perfectly... weeeird! Anyways all the emus seem to be working now. In HS they launch as well. But... its buggy. I hit enter and it either freezes for a second and then nothing happens or it freezes and then after a while the game launches. Usually I have to hit enter twice. Any ideas on this? Roadrunner
Okay, I'm going to bite the bullet and try the new HL. Wish me luck.
JayC
Good luck! In my opinion it's easier than the old one. And soon when the name change is complete it's Rocket Launcher time. I'm going to wait for that until I update, as well as installing it in my new cab.
Roadrunner
Giga, was just watching your vids and they are extremely helpful. Quick question for you. When I originally set this up I had people do autoHotkey stuff for me like "hide taskbar"... do I still need this or does the new HL automatically take care of this for me? SIMPLYAUSTIN
Its all done for you now with the HyperlaunchHQ. Roadrunner
Okay, so I downloaded HL and have it in its own folder. I removed the older versions of HL to a backup file. I set up Mame in HL HQ and can launch games from there. When I go to the HS exe. it launches but when I click on a game I get the message: "Cannot find Hyperlaunch.exe. Does HL have to be dragged into the Hyperspin folder? I thought it stayed in the HyperLaunch folder.

The error your getting can be fixed by changing the path to Hyperlaunch in the settings.ini file which can be found in the HyperSpin\Settings folder. It looks something like this. [Main] Menu_Mode=multi Single_Mode_Name=MAME Enable_Exit_Menu=true Enable_Exit=true Exit_Default=yes Exit_Action=exit Version=1.0.0.0 Last_System=Nintendo Wii Hyperlaunch_Path=O:\HyperLaunch\

I'm able to get Hyperlaunch to work on its own but I'm still getting the same message in HS. Now, when I go to test in HL I get an error: Seems to be unable to find the database for MAME. Also, I'm using an older version of MAME here do I need a different module to run it? Should I use my old module instead?
gigapig
You can't use the old modules, but you may need to upgrade mame. Get a new version from Jumpstiles ftp folder and the supporting zip. set it up separately to your original setup. If you can post your Hyperspin & HyperLaunch logs and the settings.ini. Okay the MAME version I have is compiled... I have very little desire in getting new versions of all of my emus. Is that the only way to go to the next version of Hyperlaunch? We have to keep upgrading and updating everything? I don't even want to think about having to get a new version of Daphne... that took me forever to get running. If I go down this path I guess its like completely starting over from scratch right?
gigapig
Some emulators will work just fine, but you may have trouble with very old versions of mame. Why not just use Hyperspin to launch Mame Roms if you don't want to update it?

Hmmm... okay, if I want to go that route how do I do that? Is there a vid on it? Also, would I lose performance by not using hyperlaunch? I guess I'd need all the hide taskbar stuff as well right? I'll try the other emus and see if they work with older modules too. Thanks for all the help Giga. Also, any idea why HL isn't designed to work with older versions of MAME? I guess it would be a whole lot of extra work to support everything? Just curious as to why it isn't designed to work with older modules... As it is now when using the old module, I get an error when testing that says the module doesn't have a "start line" or something like that... gigapig
I've have no idea why the old modules don't work or why older versions of Mame don't work with the newer modules, those are questions for the bods at http://www.rlauncher.com/forum/content.php You ask about losing performance, running Mame via HyperSpin is actually faster that through HyperLaunch, Mame should start instantly with HS. The advantages of using HyperLaunch is the Fade screens and Hyperpause if you like that kind of thing. Here are the settings you need for running Mame through HyperSpin. Fire up Hyper HQ and add the Rom and Emulator path, the extension and the execution which should be set to normal. BTW, I just tested running Mame through HS and then HL. With Hyperspin it was instant, as soon as I hit the button Mame was running. With HyperLaunch I had to wait 10 seconds for BattleZone to start. Stella - when I press enter the screen freezes for a second then the video plays and HS remains frozen. I can see the theme and the video keeps playing but nothing else happens and I have to CRTLALTDLT to exit. 3. Null DC - When I hit enter on this the screen and video freezes. Null DC starts and I can hear it but I can't see it (its running behind HS) and it only plays the last game played, regardless of what I select. Also, the taskbar is gone. 4. I get a "bad command line" error from Daphne. "You must specify which game to run" 5. With Nestopia, Future Pinball and MESS (Coleco) the enter button is unresponsive... nothing happens. What say you my friend?

What say you my friend? I should have mentioned and this is to my knowledge, you will need to use HyperLaunch with most systems. I thought Stella would be simple as it's a Rom based system, but I couldn't get it started with just HyperSpin. For Stella, you should be able to follow my Mame video guide and use the same method for Stella. NullDC will required Daemon Tools Lite. Daphne you will need to follow Rons' guide as I don't know enough about it, I set mine up a long time ago and not in a recommended way. Have you moved your old emulators over to this new system yet and pointed to the required paths?
Roadrunner
Giga, First of all thanks for your help, greatly appreciated. I figured out what the problem was. I had a security program do an update and that's what screwed everything up. I uninstalled the security program and put back in all of my backup files. Everything works perfectly and is lightning fast again. Whew... The giveaway was when I was looking at the background processes and saw that the latest version of the product had updated back right around the time I started having problems. Just one issue now, I can't get the Playstation to run. Back when I originally set this up, Hypnoziz created a "fake" drive on my computer for the playstation app to run with. No idea how to get this one working again. Any ideas on that one? Anyways, if I can't get that one working its no big deal. I'll look around and see what I can do but by and large most of this problem is finally fixed. Thanks for your help.
Roadrunner
Update: Okay changed the resolution in Playstation and I got it working. One last problem. When I exit out of the game in Hyperspin it seems that EPSXE is still running in the background. Any way to configure this so it doesn't happen? Roadrunner
Solved it. I re-jigged the module based on what I found here: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?15453-ePSXe-HS-HL-setup-question Seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the help everyone, it is greatly appreciated!

Roadrunner
Bro, I'm just glad this thing worked. Also, I'm glad you have those videos posted. They're great. I'd update to the lastest version of Hyperlauch but the crazy thing about that is having to update all the emus. That's just a crazy amount of work, esp for a non-technical guy like myself. Anyways what I have is more than enough. I really don't need a whole lot of crazy features... HS is sick as it is even if it is an older version. Thanks for your help.
