Cruel Moose Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Just wanted to say that your tools have been awesome when it comes to managing my NES XML. The best feature I loved was on the list generator it would show my games that were on the xml but not in the rom folder and vice versa. Is there any chance that this functionality can be extended over to media such as wheels and videos? With about 1200ish wheels in my NES folder it can be a bit hectic managing them all, especially since I'm running a customized XML. Being able to quickly spot wheels that were mistyped or missing would be wonderful.
RodentVienna Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 i believe that functionality is not scope of any program packaged in the tools. conceptually another tool would be required to match your request. In the meantime look for skillers Hyperspin XML bidollieur tool, which is conceptionally also wonderful (but no maintained - the current features still are cool) rgds alex
Cruel Moose Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Yeah, I guess I was suggesting a new tool. I figured Don's list generator was checking your rom folder and xml when doing this. Figured it would be simple to have the xml check against the media folder. I'll look up the tool you suggested.
emb Posted August 26, 2012 Author Posted August 26, 2012 I like that idea, although there is hyperSync. Soon it will also have emumovies support too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
Cruel Moose Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Yeah, HyperSync is great for the official lists. But if you've added anything else to the XML your pretty much on your own. Your list generator helped me fix about 4 or 5 games that I probably wouldn't have noticed for a long time Thx again for such wonderful tools.
Manny Avatar Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 great set of tools... looks like Don should be "The Don" if you anyone reading this has not seen his page with the sweet wood finish cabinet... go check it out pronto
thefunkygibbon Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Awesome app it seems, thanks. Although i'm having a bit of an issue with mine, in that i spent ages culling a bunch of games and i'm down to 2500 in the output file. but when i go to save the output xml the resulting file is only a couple of hundred bytes, containing just the headers in the xml. no games at all. any ideas?
RodentVienna Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 any chance you can provide input files, and a screenshot of the unused/ignore/output tabs? thanks Alex
RodentVienna Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 @ emb: if you like i can start drawing several mockups how i believe some features i mentioned can look and operate like. in the meantime i am still working on mapping MAMEvsHS Genres and Manufacturers. rgds Alex
emb Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 I would hold off on that. It might be a while or two before I even start to think about adding any updates. My new position responsibilities are quite demanding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet

I have the very same problem; Only a 1Kb output file when exporting MAME games.
krazny Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I have the very same problem; Only a 1Kb output file when exporting MAME games. OK! Figured it out..(since it did work other times) When I don't point at an Output XML on the "Configuration" TAB the file just stays 1Kb. When i DO point to an Output XML file the file is created with the right games in it. Small bug?
Lionheart Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 I think i found a bug, the current oficial Commodore 64 Database is not recognized. EDIT: Nope, problem was mine.
emb Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Again, this is some awesome feedback. I have now added these into my project management software so I do not forget them. A couple comments: Regarding 2: Click the filters button, you can filter out all of this information. I did add a note to make this filtering system a little quicker to use. Regarding 10: Not sure what you mean. Regarding 11: I contemplated this and ended up keeping them separate for intuitiveness reasons. Regarding 12: Why do you need that functionality? You can obtain that information by doing a mame.exe -listxml (see the last configuration option in the List generator). Again, thanks! %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
RodentVienna Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Hello emb! Again, this is some awesome feedback. I have now added these into my project management software so I do not forget them. thank you - i will keep thinking about things - unfortunately my cab screen is down for maintenance, so i do not have a good environment to test and regress atm Regarding 10: Not sure what you mean. by System i mean splitting to "Cave SH3", "Neo Geo", "PlayChoice-10" - the correct term would be "Platforms" i guess. Regarding 11: I contemplated this and ended up keeping them separate for intuitiveness reasons. which is fine as well. Regarding 12: Why do you need that functionality? You can obtain that information by doing a mame.exe -listxml (see the last configuration option in the List generator). mame -listxml doesnt do exactly the full extent of what may be possible with nplayers/catver/controls e.g. nplayers.ini provides much more detailed info about multiplayergames, than standard listxml does. and same with catver, and controls. the reason for having your tool support it is, that your tool currently is the only on available providing such simplistic view of lists details. with the circumstance that much info is missing in controls.xml for instance, it may easily be possible for community to help working on completeing controls.xml, due to the simplistic view your tool offers. regardless of the latter community idea, supporting catver/nplayers/controls makes the list even more complete, and the main reason "list generation" is again more strenghtened by that. thanks so much! kind regards Alex
kondoruy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Oh my god look at that picture of his cabinet, I love how the veneer is applied to it Downloading and testing the tool, tkns man.
saiyan23 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 What am I doing wrong? I am using the ROM renamer and I've tried every supported XML files in my hyperspin database folder but the option to "scan" is greyed out. I've selected rom source and output folders, checked (i think) every combination of the 4 options and still greyed out. Ive only gotten "scan" to be clickable 2 random times and when I do, it does nothing.

craiganater Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Don's tools has been great for me although I'm having problems now. the roms are correct names, the hyperHQ paths are correct with correct extensions, HyperlaunchHQ can audit and show me that I have games, yet the list generator will not show me any games for a few of my systems like the gameboy, and gameboy colour, and master system.
sandman7793 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 This is a old thread. but try making sure that the path and ext (zip, 7z, gba) etc are set in HyperHQ not HyperLaunchHQ to get this working. A boy stuck in a mans body
craiganater Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I knew it was old but I waws torn between ressurecting an old thread or annyoing with a new one, so with this being the official thread for it, I went with this. But yeah, I opened the emulator info in launch HQ, and added the extensions straight into there. Thought you know what? If replacing the | with , fixes it... I'm just gonna stop bugging people for help.
craiganater Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Well. I figured it out anyway... and well. I'm stupid. I copied the extensions list from launchHQ into hyperHQ.... the | and , between file types does a lot.
emb Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Ill add in the code the option to use both a | or , as a seperator in a future release. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk HD %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
sandman7793 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Craig, You don't need to stop asking for help, that's what the forums for anyways. Ya the , was dropped for | in hyperlaunchHQ I believe for confusion reasons, but possibly created more confusion. Go figure! A boy stuck in a mans body
