emb Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 After the creation of several applications for the HyperSpin community I have now reached the point where I can now release "Don's HyperSpin Tools 3.0"! Click here to download the latest version. Don's HyperSpin Tools will include the 4 following executables: Don's HyperSpin List Generator - The wholy grail of creating and filtering your lists. Don's HyperSpin ROM Renamer - (Intelligently) Renames ROMs to be HyperSpin compliant using CRCs. Think of this tool as an easy to use replacement for clrmamepro. This tool also strips NES headers and does n64 byteswapping on the fly. Don's HyperSpin List Merger - Take multiple XML HyperLists and group them into one (for having multiple systems in one wheel) Don's HyperSpin List Splitter - Take an XML HyperList and split it up into multiple lists by genre, manufacturer, rating, or year. Thanks for everyone's feedback. Your suggestions and ideas are what made these tools what they are today! %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
bb_neo Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Hi and thanks for your work. I just noticed that the ROM Renamer does not scan my zipped Roms. However, if I unpack them, they get scanned correctly.
emb Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 Are you extracting all the files to a folder, or just run the executable directly from the zip? Were you getting any kind of error? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
emb Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 Looks like I need to update the verbage for the rom renamer. It says 7z is not supported although it actually is. I will also look into that compression defect. Thanks for the heads up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
emb Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 Hi and thanks for your work. I just noticed that the ROM Renamer does not scan my zipped Roms. However, if I unpack them, they get scanned correctly. I just gave this a try, everything seems to be working fine for me. What file extension are you using? Are you sure that you had the Scan ZIP files checked? Also if you were scanning NES or N64 ROMs, did you have the proper settings checked? %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
evil eye Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Awesome job man, this project has come a long way!
bb_neo Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Are you extracting all the files to a folder, or just run the executable directly from the zip? Were you getting any kind of error? Nope, I extracted all files of course. I started the app as Admin just to be safe. No error during the process. Well actually I managed to crash the app if I launch the Scan without filling the "output" path for the renamed roms. Here is capture of my settings: My files to scan are actually only 2 roms: 007 - GoldenEye (USA).zip 007 - The World Is Not Enough (USA).zip The result shows 0 matched. If I unpack the 2 roms to z64 files and launch again I get 2 matched. If I pack the 2 z64 back to zip files using 7zip tool. I get again 0 matched. BUT if I pack the 2 z64 files to 7zip format instead of zip then I get as a result 2 matched. Conclusion there is something wrong with zip format. Another thing, once the tool renames the files, the output folder contains unpacked files. (z64 format) however my original files were 7zipped. Can your tool compress the files again to 7zip? thanks
emb Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 Thanks for the heads up. I have a feeling what is going on. I'll get a new release candidate out soon. Recompressing files will be a feature for a future version. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
dustind900 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Why are you stripping the NES headers? There aren't any emulators compatible with headerless roms. That I know of. Is this optional?
relic Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 actually, lynx, nes, and atari 2600 are the only systems that have this issue and its a good idea cause if many want to run the roms like normal with no problems its all worth it 100%
emb Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 Im going to get a release out that doesn't strip headers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet

emb Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 I have now addressed the above defects. Would anyone be willing to verify I fixed the n64 issue? I have no n64 ROMs to test with. I will PM you the link of the test build. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
emb Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 On second thought, I am pretty confident this release will fix that nintendo 64 issue. I think it is most important to get that NES header fix released. (See my first post for the updated link with the bug fixes). %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
DrMoney Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Would it be difficult to add an option to split by region tags? TUTORIAL!: Xpadder and You If you're super into using genuine controllers for emulation check THIS GUY out.
emb Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 I have not looked into it but am more than willing to consider it. If you are referring to the List Splitter then it all depends on what is in the XML HyperList file. If there was a region tag in the hyperlists, then it would be a cakewalk to add (literally, 5 minutes). Unfortunately there is not a region tag. If anyone were to offer any strategies on how to this, let me know. Keep those suggestions and ideas coming! DrMoney Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 My best idea would be to fuzzy match for (Japan) or (Europe), etc. but I have a feeling that may not work. TUTORIAL!: Xpadder and You If you're super into using genuine controllers for emulation check THIS GUY out.
PaintNothing Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Just wanted to post my deepest thanks for these tools. I cant thank you enough for how much time you have saved me. There I was copying and pasting in notepad about 1000 times of various games I added to xml's etc. When all along I could have used your list generator! Really like these tools keep up the good work, rom2xml can now kiss my ass! lol Xbox Live: Quaristice PSN: Black_Cat_61
emb Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Its awesome to hear feedback like that. It's those kinds of comments that keep me motivated. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
emb Posted August 13, 2012 Author Posted August 13, 2012 Just thought of a potential idea for 3.1. Would anyone be interested in having the wheel icon and have the video play when you click on a game in the HyperList generator? I figure it might help you make decisions on whether or not to filter a ROM. Any thoughts? Is it worth the time to add?
