Hyperspin won't load ROMs

Hi everyone,

I have just finished setting up my first Hyperspin install. I followed the guide and went through each instruction seemingly without issue. Hyperspin starts, goes full screen and allows me to select mame or any of the other "stock" systems that come pre-packaged on the wheel. I have also installed the latest version of Mame and a game that I know works outside of Hyperspin. My issue is that when I attempt to start the game in Hyperspin nothing happens. In fact, nothing happens when I try to start any game in the Mame wheel. Should I get an error when I attempt to load a game that isn't available or does it usually just ignore the input. Also, could it be a naming issue between the ROM and the xml file? I don't even know where to start. I have heard about Hyperspin being difficult to set up but I thought that if I could get one game or a group of games working in Mame I would continue to setup Hyperspin through Hypercloud with a Platinum membership but I want to get some games running before I put out the money Any help you could give someone who is completely new to Hyperspin would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks guys. I followed one of the guides provided on the forum and I have read that first link but the 2nd link provided seems to be a good resource so I will read that and see if it helps pinpoint my problem(s). I am using RocketLauncher as downloaded off the hyperlaunch site and have set up mame and hyperspin in HyperlaunchHQ. I haven't tried launching the game from hyperlaunchHQ so I still have to do that. Once I get home and have a second I will grab the error codes and post them. Maybe they will help.

Hi!

There are "3" main components HyperSpin (front end), HyperLaunch (launcher) and HyperLaunchHQ (gui for the launcher), and HyperHQ (I think this one is almost obsolete, I only use it for gui configuration of the wheels, I stop configuring the emulators tab) ... anyways... What you should do is open HyperLaunchHQ and double check your configuration for mame (if any).

Remember that the most important thing is to get the emulator launch and execute the game when you click it via HyperSpin, and for this you need to configure the emulator in HyperLaunch using (and only using) the HyperLaunchHQ program. This is one of the vital parts of any "HyperSpin Setup".

HyperLaunch use modules that talk to the emulator to launch the game when you press ENTER and exit the emulator when you press EXIT.. you know lol

Have fun and keep us posted.

Okay, I got things working after fixing a few issues.

Issue #1 was that Daemon Tools was set to true and causing an error. I turned that off by choosing Mame in the system list, going to main settings, and changing Daemon Tools Enabled to False.

Issue #2 was that the Windows User Account Control Settings was trying to pop up when I launched a game. It wouldn't pop up in front of Hyperspin running fullscreen but it would stop everything from working. I figured it out because it would pop up when trying to launch from HyperlaunchHQ. I figured if it was going to interrupt when launching HLHQ it should also interrupt up when launching in Hyperspin. To turn it off in Windows 7 I went to Control Panel/ System and Security/ Change your user account control settings. I set it to the lowest setting and applied.

No problems running the only game I have since these changes were made.

Excellent.

Also please ensure you don't setup the fade screen for a system (e.g zero dreams excellent console fades) until you are perfectly happy that an emulator is working correctly. This is so that hyperlaunch won't hide any error messages behind a fade screen.

The options for this are in hyperlaunchhq.

I did end up double checking that fades were disabled after reading that in one of the links posted above. I guess it came like that by default because they were off. Thanks for the advice Intigod.

Regarding the issue 2 about your user account controls I have a question-----is it a good idea to do that and still use the same computer to surf the internet with all the nasty virus stuff out there????  Is there a risk???

Brutaltruth,

I don't surf the net with the machine I have set up for Hyperspin so I don't have to worry about it. You could always change it back when you wanted to surf but that is a bit of a pain. I guess it all depends on where you surf and how comfortable you personally feel with this turned off.
