helltick1 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Hi, is there anyway to have only box art and no theme? I currently have all my nes boxart in Images/Artwork2 but they don't show up. Nes wheel art shows up fine.I used rom manager to make sure all roms, png matched the xml. I would prefer no theme at all just the wheel art with box art, I don't care much for videos. Anyway to do this?
Styphelus Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Yeah, use hypertheme and delete the video and artwork and add a generic background. Than import your artwork in and re-save the theme. Why would you want that and where in Canada are you?
helltick1 Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 I have like 800 NES box art images , I hope you know what I mean. when the arrow points to a game on the wheel, I only want the box art for that game to show up. Anyway to do this?
Styphelus Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Yes, I just told you how to do it. You need to open up the existing theme, delete the video and import a place holder for your box art.
helltick1 Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 Thank you for your time, I have deleted the Artwork3 part and now have just the background and Artwork1 that says Nintendo...which is perfect. How do I import a place holder for my box art? Do I just create a Artwork2 text file?
THK Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 A theme consists of an xml and artwork layers. Artwork layers Artwork4 Artwork3 Artwork2 Video Artwork1 Background For the background you can use a black png with a 1024x768 px canvas to avoid other backgrounds loading, but for a default theme no bg will work as well. The boxes can be placed in the Artwork1-4 slot. The actual boxes itself should be placed in the systems images directory in a folder called Artwork2 if you use the Artwork2 layer in the theme to call upon the boxes in the xml. The xml (with all the input left out) <Theme> <video w="" h="" x="" y="" r="-" rx="" ry="" below="" overlaybelow="" overlayoffsetx="" overlayoffsety="" forceaspect="" time="" delay="" bsize="" bsize2="" bsize3="" bcolor="" bcolor2="" bcolor3="" bshape="" type="" start="" rest=""/> <artwork2 x="" y="" r="" time="" delay ="" type="" start="" rest=""/> </Theme> In this case only artwork 2 is called upon. If the artwork layer isn't in the theme zip, then HS will look for it in the [system]\Images\Artwork2 folder. ..........................back with a vengeance........................
Styphelus Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 A placeholder is just a term we use. Lets say you want your box art that's saved under your Artwork3 folder. In Hypertheme, import 1 game box, lets say under Artwork3 layer. Place it wherever you want and then on the side under "Default Theme Options" check the little box that says "Don't Include in Output". That tells hypertheme that you want to use your box art from your Artwork 3 folder, not just that one particular cover. That's it. it should work. The more you use hypertheme, the better you will get at it. Soon enough you will be changing everything.
helltick1 Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Thanks so much for the help guys. I just can't get box art to show, though wheel art works great. 10-yard fight shows first, but no others. I have put box art in all Artwork1,2,3,4. I tried everything you guys said, only the first box shows but no others show after that (yes I check the box). I have hypertheme figured out and created different background,Artwork1,2,3,4...just can't get the box art to show. I think it's because I have things set as relative paths, for example this is what my nes.ini looks like: [exe info] path=..\Hyperspin\Emulators\nestopia\ rompath=..\Hyperspin\Emulators\romfiles\ userompath=true exe=nestopia.exe romextension=nes parameters= searchsubfolders=true pcgame=false winstate=HIDDEN hyperlaunch=true Wheel art is there all Roms load great from HS with controller...Just no Box Art. Of-coarse this is totally pissing me off, and would love to solve this. I have Mame set to relative paths and it works great. You guys think this could be my problem? I just can't figure out why wheel .png works but Artwork1,2,3,4 won't when they are all loaded with box art (background only theme). Again, thanks so much!
Styphelus Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 If you had FTP access I would ask you to drop your theme in there so I could fix it for you. I highly recommend you get a platinum membership. It's worth every penny.
vampirolatino2 Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Or find any theme that doesn't use the artX folder that you want and copy / learn from it?
helltick1 Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 Thanks guys, I finally got it working. I created a theme with nothing in it and it picks up box art in Artwork2 right away now. This is great.
