No Exit screen and Emulator menu does show the next level with games

I am an old time user and I had hyperspin fully configured and backedup, so I thought. A recent PC crash and I am trying to set it all up again.

I am running into two problems which seem related. When I try to exit from hyperspin I do not get the exit menu anymore, either nothing happens or the screen freezes. If I hit Y sometimes it will exit. Strange behavior I know. The other is, when I choose an emulator (say atari 2600) on the wheel menu and hit enter nothing happens it basically just reloads the main menu allowing you to pick which emulator to run but it never goes to the next level. I am not talking abou playing a game this is siply choosing the emulator then hyperspin shows the roms I have configured to choose from. Any help would be awesome. I'm sure this is two simple solutions possibly related to a simple path issue I just can figure out where to look and verify. Thanks in advance.

I suggest downloading HyperSpin Install 1.3.7z from the ftp @Upload Here\djvj. Compare your setup to that setup and update or change as needed.

It sounds like a path problem. The reload thing happened to me when I used a blank xml.

I need to get my ftp reset. I feel like its a path problem but I checked all the paths I could think of. It happens to every emulator that it doesnt load the next screen with the roms and just reboots to the default loading screen.

try redownloading Hyperspin 1, the download with all the folders and do a compare. It's in the downloads section.

pm BadBoyBill to get your ftp info if you lost it.

I think it might be the Media folder, and check your Databases folder also.

HyperSpin\Databases\SystemName\SystemName.xml

I checked the DB folder but I will check again just in case. what do you mean the media folder? Would that explain the no exit screen issue too?

the media folder explains the no exit screen, blank xml's or xml's without correct formatting explain the staying on the main wheel.

HyperSpin\Media\Frontend\Images should be where the images for exit screen and favorites screen are found.

Poking around some more it seems like when I choose a system on the main menu wheel, it doesnt load up the theme and the database file. How are those 2 things linked together?

As for the exit screen I have all the proper artwork files in the right location.

I figured out the problem but now the problem is even weirder. I downloaded the base HS package and when I run it im experiencing the same exact errors. When I run it on my laptop that I am typing on now it works perfectly. What the heck???? Is there a media codec I am missing or a .net framework type package I need to install as well. I am lost as to why it runs fine on one PC and not on another.

Sounds like you might need to plugin speakers, or install an audio driver. This is a known HS bug.

I read this after I fixed the problem, but I was having an audio issue. I ended up reinstalling a couple drivers (chipset, video, audio) but that was the fix. Thanks so much!

Just wanted to re-up this issue.. after much head scratching and frustration.. all i had to do was plug in some speakers and the exit menu magically came back, and the emulator wheels would let me go into them!

if you haven't installed your sound driver after the crash, hyperspin will play up. it happened to me when I had a pc with out a sound card our device to play sound.
