Been getting this runtime error on several 2600 games running stella emu:

Seems like a dozen or so games out of all the ones I have give this error.

One game, for example, is Bump .n Jump (I trieed another/different rom and still got error).

I've uninstalled Stella emu, uninstalled all Microsoft visual studio C++ and related software and then reinstalled.

Still getting this error :/

Combat was giving me this error, but now it works....not sure why...

Anyone have any suggestions/info about this error.

Btw, only happens in Stella emu w/2600 roms.

I hate these things... always try to get...

Directx9

Net Framwork 2.0 and later

C++

Visual Basic

ALl the runtimes you can think of

Still catch you out sometimes for some emus, some dont even seem logical.

Have you tried setting this system up using MESS?  I like it more for its visuals, controls  etc

I'll try searching for more related software.  With DirectX, Is it best to uninstall or just reinstall over existing DX?

This part in the error is great hehe:

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way....

"terminate it in an unusual way" ..hmm lol

Looked at my "Add/Remove Programs" in Windows Control Panel sorted by date to see if there was a pattern of Runtime installs related to an emulator. No discernible pattern. I remember VB Runtime 5 was required for Zinc emulator, but not seeing any other VB entries. Tons of Visual C++ Redistributable versions 2008, 2005, 2010- also multiple updates through Windows updates. Be nice if we could lock this down to a predictable pattern.

Remember to install as Administrator, as DLLs may not register properly and annoying to do them later by command prompt.

Install both x64 and x86 versions. Assume most of us are running x64 OS, but emulator may be x86 and runtime dependant. Stella comes packaged with both x86/x64 versions so may not apply in this case.

One last- is Stella working outside of HyperSpin? Lately I've only gotten the C++ error window related to flash content and then only on a web browser (possibly running bad code/spyware bait??????) Maybe run Windows update for Runtimes and check for spyware.

I know, paranoid- but they are out to get me (I have proof)(joking).
