Hyperspin issue when exiting Mame games - video delay

Hello,

I got the Hyperspin to work with alot of systems, including Atari, Nintendo, SNES, Sega Model 2,3 and Mame, with all the themes and Roms. I am having a weird issue with Hyperspin, when I exit the Mame games (Mame only), it takes a long time for Hyperspin to show up. Usually 15-40 seconds and longer occasionally. This problem only occurs after playing the games for at least 10 minutes. If I start a Mame game, play few seconds and exit, HS shows up no problem. I tried to run Mame with Hyperlaunch 2.0 and without, doesn't matter. I tried both HS 1.3 and 1.3.1. I currently run HS in the shell, however it does not make any difference when running it out of shell. I have a Windows 7 Ultimate edition. I thought it was a Windows issue, I completely rebuilt my Windows, and same problem persisted. Doesn't matter if I try with a fresh copy of just installed Windows, or after applying Windows updates. I tried 2 different video cards, ATI and Nvidia.

I took the hard drive to my friend, and he can run HS off it no problem. To better show you what's happening, check out the youtube:

I have the Mame ver 1.43. I tried with the older versions, same issue. I even custom compiled Mame on my machine, that did not help.

I don't believe it's Windows, because I tried on 2 different builds on my machine. My machine: AMD QUad Core, 4GB of RAM, I run the HS and all the games from a 7200rpm SATA HD.

I am getting frustrated. Any help would be much appreciated!

That post is a year old. Never saw that one myself. If you are still using HyperLaunch 2 then your issue might match the OP issue but I doubt it.

HyperSpin is getting bogged down. Possibly chewing up CPU time. Need to give more info bro. Just saying "I've got the same problem" on a post using a system that is not the same as yours is kinda nuts.

the exact same thing happens to my system. system boots up loads hyperspin, all is fine until you play a game for an excess amount of time, then exiting game to return back to hyperspin menu. continues to stay black with hyperspin sounds playing in back ground, after 10 mins or less system hangs up for.

im still working this out . but i may have to do a standard mame compile, instead of a custom one.

found out the problem don't use hyperhq to launch roms. use hyperlaunch to do this! fixes memory issues when exiting. more clean too.

I had that issue as well. It was caused by my HDD spinning down. I now don't ever let it spin down and I'm golden. Also, your AV might decide to check the files again if they haven't been accessed for a while-disable "auto scan". Note this also speed up my HS menu system overall.
