Ok i haven't used any shadder effects in mame for anything yet, So i will give them a try.

Maybe when you got time you could do a video on these Effects etc, I know you have a backlog of video requests but i do learn stuff from them and i also love your approach from a fellow brit.

You're probably using controllers or have VJoy installed/enabled. The module instructions mention that it is incompatible using either. If you're using VJoy you can just disable the VJoy drivers under Windows Device Manager. If you can't work around that (use 360 pads for example) then definitely use MAME instead.

Many people prefer MAME, but personally I think AAE (update 2) runs better than MAME for some Vector games (like Major Havok, Asteroids, Lunar Lander etc...) and looks a hell of a lot better with better AA, sharper lines, brighter color and less jaggies (at least on a 1080p display). You'll find a lot of differing opinions on this though.

Ok thanks, i can get it to run with update 1 but not update 2, i have U360's installed in my cab, but on my main pc nothing is installed and update 2 works.

Ugh... U360's keep AAE from running?

Well that really, reaslly sucks to hear. I've been planning on updating my CP to U360's w/rotary, but if they break AAE I may have to change my plans.

Damn. That's really terrible news.

Do you have your 360's running through a controller (you have a jPac right?), USB or both?

Fyi I'm on windows 7 64 bit and aaee works fine?

AAE original and update 1 have no issues. Update 2, which is the AAE version that is by far better than the other two, has an issue where it locks up if you're using controllers or have controller drivers enabled in Device Manager.

If you aren't using control pads or VJoy (or apparently U360's which also have controller drivers) then you'd never have a problem.

Yeh i have no problem with it on win 7 64bit on my main pc with no joysticks installed, and its the same version of windows, the same CPU and same Graphics card, the only difference is different motherboard, than my Cab.

Did you ever get AAE Update 2 to work with your U360's? Find a work-around?

I was about to order a single U360 to test, then remembered that it breaks AAE. I really don't want to have to downgrade to MAME for vector games if I don't have to.
