Hyperspin, ZSNES, and a Projector

Hi all,

I have been battling ZSNES all day today and hopefully someone may be able to shed some light. I picked up a gigabyte brix awhile back with the intention to upload some of my Hyperspin collection for on the go and travel. Anyways, the resolution is 864X480. Sucks, I know. Anyways, I have had some luck getting several systems to work, but ZSNES is not wanting to cooperate. The weird thing is that it will work outside of Hyperspin, but once I try it through Hyperspin I received this error, "make sure your video card supports this mode" and then I cannot open ZSNES again without receiving this error. I then have to delete the config files and reconfigure it again to run on 864X480. Which I then test it again without any issues. I have been looking all through Hyperlaunch HQ and the Script thinking that maybe something is changing the resolution, but without luck. Also, Hyperspin times out waiting for the game to load, but the error message is sitting there so it never does.

Anyone else come across this issue or have any words of wisdom. I would greatly appreciate it!

:)

Well, the weird thing is that it works fine outside of Hyperspin. Only once I try running it through Hyperspin does it have error messages. I will try BSNES, but if anyone knows why this could be happening to ZSNES, I would appreciate it.

Thank you

well... Now that I have downloaded BSNES I received an error "Failed to Initialize Video Driver" I am working on it now, but any ideas? It pops up the second I open it outside of Hyperspin.

Thanks

"<p><b>Warning:</b> " << config().system.video << " video driver failed to initialize. "

"Video driver has been disabled.</p>"

"<p>Please go to Settings->Configuration->Advanced and choose a different driver, and "

"then restart the emulator for the changes to take effect.

Pretty much I downloaded it, unzipped it, and opened it and error. I can't change any video settings since it errors and goes to a black screen, then Windows pops up saying that this program isn't responding. I have downloaded it twice. I know I am up to date on all my drivers through iobits driver software. So I am not sure actually what to try next. Ideas?

I'm assuming that resolution you stated is of the projector not the Brix? Have you tried a standard res in zsnes like 640x480?

Is it a Hz thing, what is the desktop refresh set too?

Under "Edit Global Module Settings" you can set a resolution, try adding it there.

Also you should be able to set your PJ to run at a slightly higher res than the native res, if that helps.

Thank you for your help, I think i'd rather just fix ZSNES. So the error I am receiving.

IDirectDraw7::SetDisplayModeFailed. Make sure your video card supports this mode.

HA! Got it working. I deleted the configuration files that I copied over from my Main Hyperspin computer and let it recreate the files, then put in my settings and no more issues!

Thank you for your help!

Now to fix the fact that some emulators do not exit when I press my exit key, which I want to be set to "3" I can set it up manually in each emulator, but some of them do not have that option. I have it set in Hyper HQ and in HLHQ. Ideas?

Just set the Exit Emulator key in HLHQ, should work fine. I have a keyboard combo set and a 360 controller button combo set also.

Do you know where that setting is stored? This way I could try copying only the .ini rather than the entire Hyperlaunch folder.

Thank you for your help everyone. After about 12 hours of work, I now have my portable version of Hyperspin up and running 100% with 17 systems. A few issues I ran into.

For some reason, none of my emulators would escape by pressing the exit button I had set in my main Hyperspin computer and then reset in my Portable. The solution was to re-transfer the Hyperspin folder. Weird, I know.

A second issue was the above, which was resolved by deleting the configuration files (3 of them) and re-setting it up.

A third issue was the actual booting of Hyperlaunch, which I figured out through another post here. My Hyperspin Computer has several Hard Drives and I keep Hyperspin on the H Drive, but now I copied everything to the C Drive of this portable. I only had to change one setting manually, which was the settings.ini file located in the main "Settings" folder. I right away saw the H drive still in place and changed it to C.

This was definately a learning experience. Thank you for your help once again GigaPig. Also that you Nimpa and Ninja2bceen.
