SkyHighGam3r
Hey everyone. Putting some finishing touches on my hyperspin themes and I need some help with a key aspect of it. I have HEAVY use of TV static. Seriously... It's everywhere, but it looks really good like you are using an old 80s-90s Television Set. However, I'm trying to make it run a short 1-2 second video of static when you tell a game to run. I've figured out how to make it run a simple image, but not a video file. Any ideas? I did hear it will alow .gif files, but I have no experience making animated gifs. Really looking forward to showing this all off once I put a little more polish into it. mccorkled
Fades cannot use video files. You can make a gif.
griffin518
There are plenty of free online animated gif creator websites... try one of those
SkyHighGam3r
Interesting, I didn't know you could just make one online. That's fantastic! Though, this method will not allow sound sadly. But it's better than it flashing the empty emulator before it goes fullscreen.I'll figure something out to make it look legit. I can't wait to share with everyone what I've been working on for so long, I just want to polish it up a bit more. I can't stand showing stuff that is too early. SIMPLYAUSTIN
Sounds really nice mate and a great idea! maybe you could cheat the sound with the system start sounds... not sure if you can set when these play? Also it doesnt have to be blank? Could use just a normal fade screen... love the idea though
SkyHighGam3r
Hmm... It might be possible to cheat the sound.Another option I just thought of that I might consider is just using an image of that old "Blue Screen" with the Channel # "03" in the corner. You know, like you would get when you had to connect an old system through a VCR? That might be kinda cool...Or (and I wouldnt need sound for this) I could do a screen scramble as a gif. Hard to describe, but I remember turning on my Genesis, and for a split second you would get a really weird scramble effect, from the power being turned on, right before the picture kicked in fully. My big thing is I want it to portray the feel of using those old systems. Obviously having the Hyperspin themes goes against that idea, but a lot of the old feeling of playing on CRT TVs is being lost to time. Kids these days don't even know what TV static is lol let alone the feeling of having to change the channel to 03.
