I am so envious. I saw one a couple times, but was never given change to play them.

20 years later, and SNK is one of my favorite companies lol

Yeah it's a cool machine to own. Mine is a standard sized 2-slot with the memory card slot.

change the bios file and you get a dif version ;)  Only 1-2 games are actually dif from actual arcades to home version.  One of which being completely dif however both can use the same setups

Lol I spoke too soon, I can't figure out how to change the BIOS file in RetroArch. All I can see is how to enable the universal BIOS, but changing it between enabled and disabled doesn't seem to change anything. It still boots in MVS mode.

Well on a real machine to change settings in the Universal bios I think you hold buttons b, c & d down until the unibios menu pops up, then in that menu you go into the settings and change it between USA, Jap, EU versions and AES MVS versions etc...

No idea how it works in RA though. I don't use it for anything anymore.

Mashing the buttons on the BIOS screen did give me the menu, thank you.

Now I just have to figure out how to save that BIOS setting so I can just boot straight to AES. My build is a console instead of a cabinet so I don't want any arcade feel unless I can't avoid it (Like the few MAME games I have)

Any progress on this?

Enable UniBIOS in RetroArch. Load a game hold ABC on your controller and it will bring up the BIOS settings. From there you can pick USA, Europe, or Japan as well as arcade or console.

To save the settings you have to have a memory card installed. If you figure out how to do that please let me know.

Just saw this reply (I've been busy with some things lol catching up)

I had no idea that the AES even had memory cards, that's crazy. The whole system is crazy... SNK IS CRAZY!...

Anyway lol, I will look into it, because I am getting really tired of having to switch it everytime I wanna play Samurai Showdown V Special at the moment.

Some of the MVS arcade machines also took memory cards (Not just the home AES). My Neo-Geo arcade machine has 1 memory card slot above the coin slot between the headphone jacks
