Lucius_Bundy
Request- I need nintendo ds and a psp xml file with valid CRC's please. The official database xml doesn't include CRC tags so I can't use it with Don's renaming tool to accurately rename my rom. Much appreciated if someone could help me out with this, thanks! gigapig
Welcome to the forum. Good luck with that request, I'm sure it's in the works but such a big job. In the mean time use the fuzzy match option.
Lucius_Bundy
Fuzzy was able to rename 800 out of the 1400+ DS roms I currently have. I guess that's it for now then.
SkyHighGam3r
Our of curiosity, what's the point of the CRC information? I just deleted it all from my build, as it seemed to me to be pointless.
gigapig
I'll try. When a file archived (compressed) the compression software gives the file a CRC number which is unique to the file\s. I shan't go into what the CRC is, something to do with error correction. That number can be added to the XML so people can check that they have the exact ROM. I think all ripping groups use this method when games are dumped as it must be a very accurate way of checking. You could also give Tur-Matcher a try. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/5603-tur-matcher/
SkyHighGam3r
Interesting. I guess I just have a much more hands-on, albeit tedious, method. lol I just play the games. But then again I don't have 8 billion of them like most people on here lol. Thanks for the info.
Shermo
Hmmm have you used ROM manager? You can grab it from download section. It matched nearly all of around 2500 ROMs 10 I had to rename
