Bushgopher Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 If I set up hyperspin on a separate hard drive on a computer running windows vista, can I take that hard drive out and run it in an XP machine without any change in setup?
iNTiGOD Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 As long as you dont change the drive letters there shouldn't be too many issues. Hyperspin and rocketlauncher will be fine. Although some emulators may need reinstalling due to registry options etc
iNTiGOD Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 If you do have different drive letters it is also quite simple to fix (edit some ini files with the new drive letter)
hpr Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 This is my ultimate wish: a completely transferable HS/RL installation, no hassle with registries etc., just replacing the hard drive. There might be problems with PCGames installations but at least for the PopCap games this might be possible. I am working on this but it takes time. (or is this already done??)
pacooka Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I copied mine over 3 different computers (same drive letter!) Hyperspin, RL.
bleasby Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 RL is completely drive independent. So it will work without problems if you move it between folders. Just make sure to install the program dependencies required to RLUI. HS used to have some absolute paths if I recall correctly, on things like video settings for example. So it is not drive independent, but you shouldn't have much problems with it. It is on the emulators that things get a little more complicated. A few of them use registry settings, which can cause a few problems. Aways look at the module notes if you can use a portable version of the emulator settings instead to avoid that. In summary, yes you can move the folders, but some things will need a few changes. It is easier if you move them between equal drive letters, even that RL does not require that. One important thing is to keep the relative structure untouched between HS, RL and the emulator and roms folders to avoid having to reset some paths between them. Sent from my XT1068 using Tapatalk
mynameiskile Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Little BIG problem here... OffTopic Story: I have a Win7 SP1 HS setup, but I have some problems connecting the system to the Naomi monitor (QuickRes seems not like 640x480 low res on W7) Followed this guide https://goo.gl/UT7zzz to enable LowRes mode, it Works!! I can see Desktop and manually launch HS, Play and exit... Then monitor frequency stuck again... So (and this is On Topic) I try to configure a new system with WinXP SP3, copied all HyperSpin + RocketLaunch + roms folders and... MAME (NeoGeo and CPSs too) is not working... "errore waiting windows ahk_class_Mame" Other emulators work fine.
