johnny50 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I'm able to choose the option "roms only" filter for mame, and it works flawlessly. It displays only the roms I have, and runs them fine within Hyperspin. When I do this for Colecovision or C64, it just allows me to go into one or the other from the wheel, then blows me back out. Atari 2600 goes into the menu of the roms I only have, but when I go to select a rom, nothing happens. For c64, the commandline example it shows is fine if I make a batch file that has it in there or typing it from an actual commandline. Yet within hyperspin it doesnt. Anyone have any idea?
gigapig Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 It could be the ROM names. If you want to give RocketLauncher a try there is a 41 system setup in the download section. It doesn't have Colecovision but you can add that manually. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/10917-hs-build-hyperspin-14-41-systems/
32assassin Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I want you to know that once you set your execution to "Normal" instead of Hyeprlaunch. you essentially disabled Rocketlauncher, you can actually delete it from your system and not miss a beat. this works with MAME, because mame uses the same command line to load a game (Look at the command line preview in your pictures) "emulator path" "rom name" but C64 and Atari do not use the same command line to load, You need to use rocketlauncher for this systems.
johnny50 Posted October 25, 2015 Author Posted October 25, 2015 So for c64, Coleco and atari I Have to use rocket launcher?
32assassin Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I don't know this for a fact since I have not tested other systems but MAME might be the only system where you can set the execution to normal and have it launch (excluding PC games). and the only advantage to launching MAME with the normal execution is that MAME will loadfaster but you will loose the ability to use fade, bezels and other Rocketlauncher goodies. so in short; you should always set your execution to Hyperlaunch.
johnny50 Posted October 25, 2015 Author Posted October 25, 2015 Ok so i can launch any game normally. But why can't I?
32assassin Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 You can launch any and all systems (that I'm aware of, there may be a few exceptions) through normal execution as long as you specify the necessary params. RL just saves you from needing to know all the flags/arguments to pass via command line, and gives you an easy way to select those options. this is such a blanket statement, you can obviously launch any emulator with normal execution if you have the correct parameters. I doubt you will find any volunteers that will find those needed parameters for normal execution. given that those parameters have already been found and saved in modules. the same modules that are used by Rocketluancher/hyperlaunch when you set your execution to Hyeprlaunch.
gigapig Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Can you not pull those parameters from the module or RocketLauncher Log? It does show the Run command in most logs I've seen. What are the motivations to not use RocketLauncher? The amount of time spent searching for answers to running HyperSpin from command line, could have had those 3 or 4 systems set up and working.

Because rocket launcher instantly gives me errors, complains about a missing system in file, and looks pretty complicated to use with tons of options that I can't make years or tails with.
johnny50 Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 RocketLauncher may look a bit intimidating on first glance, but it's really not that bad to use at all. After you setup a few systems you'll get the hang of it. It will save you a ton of time in the long run and make your HyperSpin life a lot easier. What file did it say was missing? A system.xml file i think.
gigapig Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 If it's complicated then I have already given you a link to a version that is already set up in the 3rd post, all you need do is extract it add your ROM path and set controls.
