Worth keeping CPS1,2,3,Sega Model 3, System 22 wheels if you have a full MAME ROM SET?

Just curious to know how many people that have a full MAME ROM set also have separate wheels for systems like CP1-3, Namco System 22, Sega Model 3. I guess it comes down to preference (with the individual game themes) because with each system I have do have themes for the games (CP1-2, Namco System 22, Sega Model 3) so it looks good having them in their own section their own themes but being that all the games are already on a FULL MAME ROM SET... I'm wondering if anyone else bothers to keep the separate wheels just for the themes?

I don't keep the wheels just for the themes; I just find it easier to browse those wheels than the MAME wheel.  There can also be a similarity among games from the same publisher that giving them their own wheel helps illustrate, notably Neo Geo.

Yeah, I agree... it's definitely easier to navigate the games when they are on their own wheel... some games I had on mame forever but only recently took notice because they showed up on another system's wheel like Namco system 22 or Model 3. I think what I'll do is basically just keep the themes and just remove the ROMS from those systems and just point them to my MAME ROM folders. My main issue was I didn't see the need to keep the same roms if I already had them with mame... I remembered that Hyperspin is pretty much XML and it doesn't really matter where the roms are as long as you point the system in the right direction and you have the XML set up with the right rom names.

Given the absurd amount of games in the arcade (good and bad), I started a MAME wheel from scratch and just titled it "Arcade".

That being said, I'm not familiar with mame, and while I can get Street Fighter: The Movie, and the classic Mortal Kombat games to run, I can't seem to get anything from Street Fighter Alpha, or newer games of any kind ot run. I'm using RetroArch, but I don't know if that matters. I just haven't gotten around to checking what's wrong, Arcade is LOW priority for me.

Keep in mind though that this is how I run my entire setup.

In one wheel:

Sega Genesis, Sega 32X, & Sega CD

Sega Genesis-CD-32X

In one wheel:
Game Boy, Game Boy Color, & Game Boy Advance
Game Boy HD

In one wheel:
NEC TurboGrafx-16 & NEC TurboGrafx-CD

TurboDuo

The few Famicom/Famicom Disk System games I have are all listed in NES as if they belonged there (Custom US style cartridges and all) I do this with all import, prototype, and romhack games that are in my system so they look like they've always belonged.

My point is, the fact that we have the ability to jump to a letter, as well as favorites menus (and genre ones if that's your thing) means that navigating large romsets is pretty easy.

I say, cut down the clutter, and do one wheel.
Also, I'd recommend deleting crap games you'd never play. It ends up saving so much space.

for me that's things like Barbie, Shmups, Sports, Edutainment, and anything that was just god awful and should be forgotten. (where's waldo the video game? C'mon...)

I never started my cab and said to myself.

I like to play a side scroller, action, rhythm or any other genre game.

listing my MAME games by genre is point-less to me.

what I did

when I press G on my MAME wheel it takes to me my genre list

but I have most of the XMLs you just listed and all the Classics in the Genre lists

scroll to 1:35

I did remove the Cave and Nego Geo MVS from the MAME list and have them on their own wheel since I play them allot.

I did the same thing for the "Arcade PC"  (now using a theme that says Next Gen Arcade)

I merged all the Taito Type X and other next gen arcades such as the Sega Triforce.
