The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Hi guys,

I can't seem to get my joysticks to control the HS menus. I have set up the controls in HyperHQ but nothing works when I boot up HS. Everything works in my emulators such as Mame. I'm using HS 1.4 with RocketLauncher. My cab OS is Win XP 32bit

Hope someone can help

I believe that's because HS doesn't work with analog joysticks/trackballs/spinners etc... You need to use a different program such as xpadder (I think) to create a profile to use when in the HS menu system. There are a ton of topics about control profiles, but not sure if there are any specific to U360's. I'm planning on upgrading to them myself so hopefully you get some solid info in this topic.

I'm also going to have to buy or build a USB cut-off switch so I can use these joysticks with emulators that normally won't work with it.

Hi, I've fixed it using joytokey. I found a great tutorial and all is sorted. They are great joysticks!

Nice. Link to the tutorial?

And if anyone knows of a button or toggle USB cut-off switch that would be great too.

Yes please link to the tutorial, I would like to get a U 360 some day. I do find it odd why HyperSpin 1.4 did not work with it as joystick, spinner and track ball was fixed in that version.

Here is the link guys! I hope it helps you as much as it helped me :D FF past the stuff for the first 4:20mins if you've already downloaded Joytokey. I didn't set the RocketLauncher (HyperLaunch) or System keys FYI

Ah thanks. I thought you meant you found a tutorial specific to U360's though.

Did you get the rotary attachment for them too?

What do you need the USB cut-off for? If it's for enabling/disabling a device when certain games/systems are launched that can be done using the User Functions in RL. I wrote one for someone to enable/disable the Dolphin bar when certain games/systems were launched.

I don't know what you're referring to with "user functions".

I wanted the cutoff switch to act as if I'm pulling the controller out of the PC.

I had wrote a script that would use DevCon to enable/disable joystick drivers with a combo-key press, but it no longer works in Win 10.

Plus I'm not sure it would work the same with the U360 still plugged in.

In the RocketLauncher/Lib directory there's a User Functions.ahk which you can modify to run custom scripts. When I wrote the dolphin bar code (which also used devcon to enable/disable the device) I placed it in there with conditionals so it would only be enabled or disabled when certain games or systems were started in RL. Doing it that way just negates the need for an external bat/vbs/ahk script as it's all self contained in RL.

That's cool. I had a thread months ago about anyone knowing how to use that feature and specifically how to use it with DevCon and I got no response. I also couldn't find any instructions on how to set it up to auto-launch.

If your script works with Win 10 can you share it and how you set it up?

The tutorial works for joysticks in general, it just shows you how to use JoytoKey and set it up in RL and HS. My 360's are working great now :D

I build my cab in 2012 and I don't think the rotary part was out then. What does it do?

I can test it in Win10 tomorrow and if it works I can modify it for what you need and set it up.

Thanks. After upgrading to win 10 my script shows DevCon working in the dos command line (drivers enabled, drivers disabled etc...), but in device manager it doesn't actually make the change.

Worked perfect before I upgraded and when I went looking it seemed that this DevCon version (I'm using the 64bit version) is still the correct one for Win 10. Bummed.

The rotary lets the U360 also function as a rotary joystick so it spins left/right for games that used that to aim. Like Heavy Barrel, the Ikari Warriors Games, Gondomania etc...

If you built your cab in 2012, does that mean you used a different frontend before and just recently tried Hyperspin in it? What front did you use before?

Just looked and I built it in 2011! Didn't realise it was that long ago!

I used HyperSpin from the start. I made my own themes too.. It was a lot harder back then LOL :D

My cab should be in the user cab section on here I think

Nice.

If you've used Hyperspin from the start, then how is it you just now noticed your U360's don't work with it?

Or had you never hooked them up before now?

Haha! That was a different build before RL and all the cool stuff. It was all .ahk and modules and most things were awful to get running :)

I've just redone everything from the ground up to make the install neater and more simple but had no idea how to set things up.

I've been watching the Simply Austin tutorials on YouTube and that guy is great at them! He also gives loads of help in he comments!

I need to get used to the new HyperTheme next so I can re-do my cab themes

Cougar, did you do any custom mapping with the 360 or are most games already set up for 4 or 8 way? Also did you buy any additional items like restrictor plates? It seems great for £37 and to have no noise and precision.

Thanks

No custom mapping, just done some game mapping in the various Emu's.. Mame SF2 etc.

No restrictor plates, never had a need for them, Pac-Man, Q-Bert etc seem to work great as is. They are great sticks but I would say get the stiffer springs, I have the default ones and they are a little weak

I've made a few topics before asking q's about these joysticks. Never got any answers so now I'll ask you.

-Do you have them plugged in both USB (for analog and mouse) and wired into an iPac?

-Is the program for mimicking different joysticks (2-way, 4-way, diag etc,...) quick and easy to use?

-How exactly do you set it so that it loads the correct joystick profile when a game launches? How does it load back to a "normal" HS profile after you close a game?

-Can you set it per system or just per game/rom?

-Found anything that they don't work quite right with besides HS?

I have them plugged into 2 USB ports on the motherboard, no iPac etc and never used the mouse option.

I've never used the mapping software but it does seem really easy to set up.

I just use the joysticks as is, I've never had a problem with different games.

I've never a problem with them at all to be honest. Only niggle is the spring, like I said the default one is a bit light.. I don't mind it but you can get stiffer ones I believe
