Sega Model 2 Crashing after exit?

[sOLVED] bulbousbeard's first response did the trick. Thanks for your help you guys!!

I've looked everywhere, but I couldn't find anyone with my exact problem - so here I am!

I recently setup Sega Model 2 in my HyperSpin setup (following Simply Austin's tutorial). Setup via RocketLauncher using the Sega Model 2 emulator,  everything works great from HyperSpin until I exit the game. I exit by holding my Xbox 360 Guide Button down for 1.5 seconds (via JoyToKey, simulating Alt+F4) and it goes back to HyperSpin.... but my controller input doesn't work. I have to force close Hyperspin (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and restart the program.

I tried using the keyboard and nothing happens. When I hit up and down on my controller, the video starts to lag a bit so it looks like it's seeing something. (I should also mention that I'm using JoyToKey for Hyperspin, and not the HyperHQ joystick tool.) I've also made sure the module and emulator was up to date.

Any idea on whats going on? Is there any more information I can provide?

Thanks

I'd advise against using Joy2Key if possible. Doesn't Rocket Launcher support killing tasks that don't let you quit with the escape key?

There are even frontends that have built in task killing so that it just works automatically.

Mine exits fine with escape key... no need for alt f4.

And I think joytokey is an absolute necessity when dealing with joystick buttons. If you are building a cab then the buttons are already encoded as keystrokes so I guess it wouldn't really be needed by those people.

Technically you can deal with joysticks by relying on someone else's script too, but that's just an improvisation to compensate for not having one of the fully supported keymappers of RocketLauncher. Scripts can and do break as stuff changes. Keymappers will always be supported! They are super simple "profile changes" where very little can go wrong if setup correctly. Jumpman is clearly using a 360 joystick so please don't advise against using a keymapper.

I did see that RL 'Esc' feature but never tried it because everything was working fine without it. The other Emulator I use Alt+F4 for is NullDC, so I'll look into this and report back a little later today.

EDIT: I tried the 'Esc' Task killing thing, and boom. It worked right away. I feel so stupid haha, thanks for the tip!   :sorcerer:

JoyToKey helped so much with everything. I think about 8 months ago I was trying to set up everything without a keymapper which, seems to me now, kinda crazy. The new Button 13 Guide Button functionality was an awesome addition.  I'll see what I can do with the ESC key, whenever I used it on the Sega Model 2 Emulator it would just minimize from fullscreen and the emulator toolbar became visible.

I use Xpadder... no problems exiting.

Sega Model 2 is definitely one of my favorites.

I'll try using Xpadder and let you know how that turns out. I know in previous versions it couldn't see the Guide Button when pressed. Is that still a thing?

I don't use Xpadder with a XBOX controller... just a basic USB generic Playstation type controller.. but I like how Xpadder handles profile configs so I use it as my main (key to controller)
