Vertical Shooters in mame? Is there a way to not be in full screen???

OK call me crazy but I like to play in full screen on mame64 but the vertical games are way too stretched out. I was wondering if there was a setting I could change in my mame.ini file so the vertical shooters wouldn't go in full screen.

ok, you're crazy! hahaha... seriously though, that is the aspect ratio they are in naturally, a window isn't going to help that. In fact, it'll only make it worse (smaller). Only thing that could possibly help is having a widescreen monitor on a swivel and tilting it 90 degrees when you play those.

Not sure about regular MAME, but in MAMEUIFX (they should be very similar) you can clone your mame.ini as vertical.ini and change that setting. Any vertical game will then use the other config file. Same goes for horizont.ini (yes, that's the correct spelling) and vector.ini for horizontal and vector games.

You can go so far as to have .ini files for each game if you want, name must match ROM name exactly. I think you can do them by manufacturer as well, but not sure how that works. Glad to hear you're up and running!
