Ok I am trying to help my friend set up his hyperspin but the wheel will just keep spinning in the hyperspin menu and system wheels. When you start hyperspin it will automatically start and as soon as you hit a direction it will just spin like crazy same in the system menus. He also has lots of things hooked up to his PC. Dolphin bar, 2.4gh little keyboard \w touch pad, xbox 360 receiver and his ipac 4 with 4 player controls and ultimarc trackball.

He unplugged his dolphin bar and wiped his PC. Set up controls multiple times.Tried checking and unchecking all the boxes in hyper HQ joystick, trackball, spinner etc. nothing has worked. He has also tried starting the computer up with only the ipac hooked up still didn't work.

I have been trying to help him over teamviewer for the past few days but i'm running out of ideas. I was just over there Monday he was on windows 7 at the time. I installed some roms and a few emulators they all worked fine. He upgraded to windows 10 that same night and the wheel just spins now. I run hyperspin myself on windows 10 no problem. I can't figure this out.

I hope someone else has had this same issue in the past and can help us out.

Thanks!

This is a HS bug. Disable Joysticks in HSHQ and use the startup script (in download section), joytokey or xpadder to map buttons if needed.

1) Run HyperHQ.exe

2) Click on Controls

3) Make sure there is NO check in the Joystick 1 Enabled

4) Make sure there is NO check in the Joystick 2 Enabled

5) Download and run/use the StartupSript (in the download section of this site and the best option for X360 controllers), joytokey or xpadder

6) Reboot, drink cocktail, enjoy.

If the above didn't help...

Unplug all USB things and see if the problem happens. If it doesn't, add them back one at a time to see which one causes the problem. The Dolphin Bar has caused issues for some.

It sounds to me like a key is being pressed. Make sure your connections on the ipac are sound and make sure they are not plugged into the switch in the normally normally closed connection. Then check your keys using the KADE keyboard test utility or windows on screen virtual keyboard.

He says he has tried all the above but still no luck. Do you think it could be a driver issue with his 2.4 ghz keyboard or xbox 360 wireless receiver?

He ordered a x-arcade 4 player board do you think he might have the same. Issue.

Thank you all for your input and help!

That is what I was thinking . How would he go about testing it without it plugged in? He said it doesn't spin continuously when he has it unplugged and is able to use his 360 pads to navigate the menus. I set the start up script for him when I installed everything for him. He just has so much stuff hooked up to it its hard to figure out whats going on.

Baby steps. Why would you introduce so many different things at once? Pick the X360 or the ipac and make it work. Then you can try to introduce some more pieces/complexity.

You need to crawl, then walk, then run.

Have you double checked Anpanman's suggestion above? Are you sure that the ipac isn't wired improperly to a switch to be always closed vs. always open? Has this ipac ever worked in this setup? What type of buttons/micro switches is he using? If unknown, how many leads are on each micro switch?

In the "HyperSpin Startup Script.ini" do you have "Joysticks_Enabled=True"? If so, try "Joysticks_Enabled=False" and see if there is a difference.

Is he using Joytokey, xpadder or any other type of mapping software?

Yes the ipac is wired up he use to have gamex running on it. I agree he has way to much stuff he wants setup at once on it but he bull headed.

he has a happ controls I believe positive and ground connections. I don't remember if the sticks are set to true i will have to look. No there is no xpadder or joytokey  or any other type of button mapper on it.

I experienced something similar when hooking up my IPac Ultimate I/O. The wiring was bumped or jostled during install and wasn't grounded properly. Download a keyboard tester and make sure everything is routed properly, and each button works. I used a multimeter to test each wiring point to pinpoint the bad ground in the chain. After getting everything up and running I run a firmware update for the card.

I would also turn off the Attract Mode in HyperHQ until you figure out what's causing it to run all of the time without stopping.

Is his HyperSpin setup with HyperLaunch or is he using RocketLauncher? CRT or computer monitor? I recently experienced a few strange problems with reinstall after switching OSs from Windows 7 back to XP.

Thank you for your input. The controls work just fine it only happens in hyperspin navigation the ipac works fine on everything else. He is running hyperspin 1.4 v15 and rocketlauncher v1.0.1.0 He is changing the ipac to an x-arcade 4 player board today if he still has the same problem I will post it.

Thanks to everyone who has tried to help with this issue!!!

I'm not sure why he is switching to an X-Arcade if his iPac is functioning properly. You could also use the corresponding keystrokes on the keyboard to test if it is a software probem or problem with the iPac (if error occurs when joystick is moved up or down, use the same keystrokes on the keyboard to see if error reoccurs).

Another option would be to enter the BIOS setup screen. Under the "Secure Boot Configuration" menu enable "Legacy Support". Then fire up HS and see if you still have the issue. This might (kind of a long stretch) remedy a hardware issue with the controls...

If it were me I would revert back to Windows 7...

Something I just realized I hadn't asked yet: in HyperHQ -> Controls -> Joystick, what's his Analog Threshold set to?

Posted

I'm not sure but he already switched to an x-arcade 4 player board. I'm going over there tomorrow to help him set all his controls he said that it doesn't do the spinning anymore. I will post the results tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's input.

I've yet to work with built in arcade controls so I'm not sure for them. I navigate menu with a PS3 controller and have it set to 5. I think the default is 40.

Yeah that is what I have mine set to 40 I have 2 ps360+ boards on my arcade build with 2 sanwa joysticks and led sanwa buttons.I also have my htpc set to 40 too with 4 x360 pads. I don't see much difference between the 2 and I have never really messed around with the settings. No biggie I was just curious.

His controls are working fine with the new x-arcade board. But when we went to play street fighter 4 ultra the E key would crash the game and the D key would exit the game completely. This is the only game it would do it on. Anyone have a clue as to how to fix this?

Posted

Playing them in MAME right? It strikes me as very odd that only that game would crash so maybe you could check the general and per game input config inside MAME to see if there's overlap somewhere.
