thenoob Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Holy crap I've spent about the last 3 days getting around and understanding retroarch as I'm going to put it in my cab. The big frustration I have is saving configs per core. I set up a core , rom directory, launch games etc. I'll launch another core and set that one up and get it working . I then go back to the previous core, and all my settings are gone from it, the rom directory is the from the newest one I just had up. There has got to be a simple way to do this? Shouldn't the core launch with what it was setup with? What am I missing?
JoyStickKilla Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Did you rename the config to match the system name?
thenoob Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 Nope but I went into the configs file and i guess retroarch makes a config file per system. Now that I'm scanning the folders when setting up the rom directory I will see what happens. I opened the config and scrolled down to the command and the file path looks correct but something weird is going on
JoyStickKilla Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 You should follow the RL directions then. It tells you for config per system that you need to rename the file to the system name after setting it up.
thenoob Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 Ahhh ok gotcha. Do you have a link Or point me in the area where I can find rl's guide and I can search from there?
thenoob Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 I've got it to the point where I launch it in rocketlauncher, Game audit is good Choose game Launch it Gets stuck of the "now loading" and just stays there, have to force quit everytime.
damageinc86 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Yeah RA sure doesn't deal with actually saving separate core configs very well, or intuitively. As long as I ran through it and set the cores up, and set RA to save config on exit, then went into rocketlauncher and did the system module options and pointed it to the config i just set up, then it worked through RL. It does seem to want to load the last core you just setup, even though it seems like the phrase "set config per core" would mean that you config that core and it saves, then you are back to a clean slate once you exit. I spent about 3 days messing with mine too. The first day was a bunch of back and forth constantly because I never noticed that the previous core was still active next time i started retroarch, and i did a bunch of option changes to what I thought would have been the main RA config, but ended up being the last core i used. But when RL uses the module to load up the config, it seems to go through and call up that specific config even though you may have had another one open previously.
thenoob Posted February 15, 2016 Author Posted February 15, 2016 What I've done and where I'm at so far. Managed to edit the control config and manually input controls for my xarcade and works great. Awesome. With each core, I'll scan the directory, play a game and back out, then save new config and it will save the emulator config in its folder. If I load up the corresponding core, I unfort still have to load up the config file. This program should do this automatically. I'm almost there with getting it to run in rocketlauncher. I audit my games, all good Launch emulator with chosen game (any game) it it launches goes to the new "game loading" screen and just stops there. Every retroarch game, every time. I'm using retro arch 1.3 and the normal retroarch module. Maybe I should try giga's module that was included instead of the stock one? Or am I using too new a build of retro arch. So close and it's frustrating lol
