RetroArch - Doesn't create a retroarch-core-options.cfg file?

Ok this is driving me nuts just using RetroArch I can't get it to create or save a retroarch-core-options.cfg file.

I have per core save ON

I load up medanfen-psx core, adjust settings, go to core options make changes like 2x internal native res etc. then I save the config and it creates only a core medanfen-psx.cfg but no retroarch-core-options.cfg file to hold the changes I made to the CORE options.

So when I load medanfen-psx.cfg I have everything but since there was no retroarch-core-options.cfg to read from the CORE options are back to default and I loose the settings like 2x int res I made.

I tried this on several cores, same results. I tried 3 nightly builds, same issue and with 1.3.0 stable and older builds same thing. Gotta be something I'm doing or missing.

Anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Nothing works.

in RL I have per core enabled and path to my config correct.

I launch thru RL a game using Sony PLaystation.cfg (say Aliens Trilogy)

I hit F1

I see the Sony Playstation.cfg loaded.

I goto quick menu

I edit the Core options to turn on 2x native res and some other things like dither.

I edit core input and change none/unknown controller to dualshock for p1 and p2

I back out to main menu I click save current config

I exit the game, back to RL. I go to check the files and the Sony Playstation.cfg was updated (new time stamp) but no retro-core-options file in root or in \config

I reload the same game and nothing was saved, the controller inputs went back to defaults not Dualshock and of course all core options are default.
