ok so i can load games in rocketlauncher no problem but the moment i try to load it in hyperspin it opens then closes. If you disable fullscreen it will open no problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Is it a resolution problem?

So i had this same issue. And I had 2 monitors set up. When i unplugged one of my monitors it worked just fine. I think it was becasue one of my monitors was a different resolution then my other one and it would crash. Basically i run it in windows for now until if i want to play it full screen i disable my other monitor or unplug and full screen works like a dream. If you have a dual monitor set up and both monitors are different resolution it may be the problem.

I have a major issue with getting fullscreen to function.

It doesn't crash on me, but it NEVER remembers my 'stretch' setting when I configure it in SSF. I always have to restore the window, go to options, re-click it, and THEN it gives me fullscreen.

Otherwise I get letterbox on not just the sides (which is awful enough) but on the top & bottom too.

This only happens when I run it through HS/RL. On it's own, it's no issue.

I remember playing with the module and I thought I set things up to where I wanted them.

To clarify it does technically 'fullscreen' but it doesn't stretch, which in my book is not 'full'screened lol.

I just tried mine which is normally bezeled and it stretched and was full screen. It just looks really bad like that, and windowed as well, but worse stretched.

I don't stretch mine, but I just went into the SSF module settings and set "Stretch" to true and it stretched it for me.

I'll have to double check this later, maybe I messed something up. I stopped working on SSF for a awhile but this thread reminded me of the issue.

Certainly a matter of preference lol I know most people don't like it at all. I wouldn't have it any other way though, I can't stand having black bars or bezels.

I just really wish SSF would go open source so we could get a RetroArch core and be able to use the shaders. Makes a HUGE difference on stretched video when you can apply shaders.

Given the above, and the proposed solutions haha, I'd be willing to bet it's a Module issue as well.

You can give Sweetfx a try or even Reshade (Which I haven't tried with SSF), I've had Sweetfx working with SSF which looked ok at fullscreen but looked a mess bezels.

And SSF's scan lines look OK.

Maybe even Sub-Z's overlay would work as well, without a bezel, but you would need the bezel option and "Use Full Screen Bezel" set to true.
